November 23 -29, 2008 is National Family Week at the West Cook YMCA. During this week we invite our members to bring their holiday house guests to the YMCA for free. 1st Annual West Cook YMCA Prayer Breakfast a Big Hit!

Moods were bright during a cloudy morning on November 11th as a diverse
group of nearly 40 individuals attended the 1st Annual West Cook YMCA
Prayer Breakfast. The breakfast, held during the World Week of Prayer,
was highlighted by a speech from Sam Evans of the McCormick Theological
Seminary. Donations collected during the event were used to benefit
YMCA World Service.

I Can Speak Spanish
Everybody knows that the best time to acquire languages and a lifetime love for them is at the age of 3. I Can Speak Spanish will introduce your child to Spanish and teach them how much fun learning another language can be. Children will learn basics like colors, numbers, greeting and more in an interactive environment where songs, games and colorful visual aids are an integral part of each class.

Welcome Jeremy!
|

The West Cook YMCA is proud to announce the hiring of Jeremy Myers as our new Wellness and Sports Director.
Jeremy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI. He studied Health, Physical Education and Recreation with concentration of Recreation. While attending Aquinas College, he played three years of baseball and one year of basketball.
Jeremy comes to West Cook YMCA with over eight years of service to the YMCA. He started out at the Greater Grand Rapids YMCA in college, then moved to a YMCA in Ohio, then to the YMCA of Lansing and was last at the YMCA in Grand Haven, MI. Jeremy earned his YMCA of the USA Senior Director certification in 2005.
Jeremy enjoys golfing in his free time and attending sporting events. He has a great passion for basketball, including coaching, training and teaching younger athletes the game of basketball.
Jeremy looks forward to working with the YMCA community members and participants as they enter into an exciting future at West Cook YMCA.
