Healthy Kids Day 2008

The West Cook YMCA is proud to present the 11th Annual Healhty Kids Day Health Fair. Join over 24 local agencies and businesses focusing on kid's health and safety. This fun-filled day will include interactive family fun and fitness including games, soccer, Tae Kwon Do demos, a large obstacle course, Dance Dance Revolution, goodie bags for all the kids and prize drawings. And best of all the fair is absolutely free and open to all!

The West Cook YMCA will be recycling bottles, cans, plastic and paper. Watch for special recepticles for these items around the building in the near future and use them accordingly. We can make a BIG DIFFERENCE together if we all pitch in!

This new program consists of a one-hour consultation and one-hour follow-up with a nutritional professional. Consultation includes an assessment of your current diet along with suggestions for improvement.

an entertaining evening with live music, auction, great food, an awards
ceremony and more. Dinner reservations can be purchased at the
Member Services Desk for $50 per person or $500 per table of 10.
Feeling Lucky?
You can also purchase raffle tickets for your chance to win a 50"
plasma television, a stainless steel grill (perfect for barbecuing this
Summer!), or a dinner valued at $200 at Maya Del Sol. Raffle tickets
are $100 each and can also be purchased at the Member Service's Desk or
directly from Jan Pate (708-434-0203).

Congratulations Regional Finalists
|
West Cook YMCA Youth Basketball League (YBL) participants Elijah Priovolos, Amari Smith, Evan Rhodes-Martin, Brenell Pendleton, Jordyn Perry, Ashely Howard and Lauren Frank all advanced to the Regional Finals in the Jr. NBA/ Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge in their respective age categories.
The next challenge will be held at 11:30am April 13, 2008 at Attack Athletics, 2641 W. Harrison in Chicago. There they will compete against other regional finalists for the right to travel to Orlando, Florida for the finals. Come on out and cheer our kids on!
The Jr. NBA/ Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge includes dribbling passing and shooting tests for children between the ages of 7 and 14.

The slow movements of Tai Chi develop balance, health and self-confidence. Nei Gong adds muscle and tendon strengthening exercises, consisting of 12 dynamic poses, breathing and visualization.

The gentle exercise of Tai Chi has numerous advantages for arthritis sufferers. This class exercises the entire body, is easy to learn and is suitable for almost everyone.
