Mark your calendars! The West Cook YMCA's Annual Spring Gala to benefit "Invest in Youth" is Thursday, April 24, 2008. All are invited to attend what promises to be an entertaining evening with live music, auction, great food, an awards ceremony and more. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Member Services Desk for $50 per person or $500 per table of 10.
Feeling Lucky? You can also purchase raffle tickets for your chance to win a 50" plasma television, a stainless steel grill (perfect for barbecuing this Summer!), or a dinner valued at $200 at Maya Del Sol. Raffle tickets are $100 each and can also be purchased at the Member Service's Desk or directly from Jan Pate (708-434-0203).

Healthy Kids Day 2008 is Almost Here!

Join the West Cook YMCA for Healthy Kids Day Saturday, April 12 2008 from 9:00am - Noon. The day will include a wide variety of activities and information for children, teens and families. Kid Athletes Win Big at Skills Challenge

Eighty-eight boys and girls between the ages of 7-14 participated in the Jr. NBA/ Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge at the West Cook YMCA on Saturday, February 23, 2008. Additional activities during the event included a visit from the Chicago Sky Mascot, Sky Guy (pictured at right) and a three-point contest.
Each participant ran through a series of drills including dribbling, passing, and shooting. The winners in each age category advanced on to compete against other area winners for the right to travel to Orando, Florida May 13-15, 2008 for the National Skills Challenge Finals. Congratulations to winners Elijah Priovolos, Amari Smith, Evan Rhodes-Martin, Brenell Pendleton, Jordyn Perry, Ashley Howard, Trevionoa Mathews and Lauren Frank. Click here for more photos.

Cycle-a-thon the Sequel! - HF247

It's back! Join us for the 2nd Annual Cycle-a-thon to benefit "Invest in Youth" on Satrurday, March 15, 2008.
How it works: -Bikes will be set up in the hallway on the main floor for ultimate visibility -Register for one-hour time slots on the bike for $25/hour (ride for 1, 2, 3, or all 4hrs!) -Sign-up as a team of 2 or more or as an individual -Raise $$ for Invest in Youth - the individual with the largest donation will win a special prize (ask family, friends, and neighbors to donate!) -Snacks and prizes will be provided -Ride will be instructor led and will include fun music, exciting games and a GREAT workout!
