Big Brother Kevin Burnett and Little Brother Kendrick
Big Brother Kevin and Little Brother Kendrick have been matched since August of 2011. Kevin is very dedicated to his Little Brother Kendrick and always makes time for him even though he is busy raising two young children of his own. Kevin and Kendrick enjoy going to the YMCA, playing basketball, swimming and catching baseball games together.
In addition to Kevin volunteering as a Big Brother and balancing his family life, he has been very helpful spreading the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters and educating the community on the need for mentors. He is on a personal mission to motivate his friends and coworkers to get involved in becoming Bigs as well. Kevin's initial goal was to recruit 10 new Bigs this year and now that number has increased to 30! He has been successful in recruiting potential Bigs by just talking to and emailing his friends, informing them about what it means to be a Big and how easy it is to get involved. Kevin has already had 3 of his colleagues complete the application process to get started!
Thank you Kevin, for helping us with our goal of recruiting 100 Men in 100 Days!

Big Brothers Big Sisters Start Something Luncheon - Please Join Us With a Friend or be a Table Captain!
Wednesday, September 12
12:00pm-1:00pm (registration begins at 11:30am)
Ruth Eckerd Hall
1111 McMullen Booth Road
Clearwater, FL 33759
Our agency is in need of Table Captains for our next "Start Something BIG Luncheon" at Ruth Eckerd Hall. The goal of the event is to raise funds for our programs and to spread the message to our community. It is totally FREE and will only last one hour.
What is a Table Captain? A Table Captain invites nine other people to join them at their table to learn more about the work BBBS is doing in our community. Family, friends, neighbors and work colleagues make excellent potential guests. The luncheon is free to you and your guests. You DO NOT have to ask anyone for money...your job would be to get them to the event. There is no requirement that anyone give at this event as it is the job of BBBS to inspire people to want to give. This event is a great opportunity for us to share the accomplishments of Big Brothers Big Sisters with the community and acknowledge our current donors. It will also help us raise much needed funds to maintain and sustain this much needed mentoring program in Pinellas County. If you are interested in serving as a Table Captain or attending with guests, please contact Tirrah Switzer at TirrahS@bbbspc.org or 727-518-8860 ext. 252.

| Become a BIG Partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters! |
|
Make BBBS Your Charity of Choice!
Are you involved with an organization who is planning an event or fundraiser? Do you have, or know of a business who would like to give back to the community? Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus Counties is looking for local organizations to participate in our Charity of Choice program!
A couple of ideas on how to become a Charity of Choice partner would be to have a special day at your place of business where a % of the proceeds benefit our agency, or to hold a special event for a group, where part of the the entry fees or food and beverage sales benefit our local children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
To participate, all event planning would be the sole responsibility of the organization that chooses us as their Charity of Choice. Due to a very limited staff, our agency cannot participate in actual event planning, but could potentially send a representative on the day of the event. To help promote the event, our agency would be happy to communicate details of your event to our constituents through email newsletters and social media, as appropriate.
If you have a Charity of Choice idea, please contact Christine Battista, Marketing & Communications Coordinator: 727-518-8860 ext 231, or ChristineB@bbbspc.org

| Frequently Asked Question |
|
|
Why is it a good idea to have an alternative emergency contact number (other than the parent/guardian's) during outings?
On the rare occasion an emergency should occur and you are unable to reach the parent/guardian of your Little, you should always have an alternative number who will be able to help reach the parent/guardian during an emergency situation. This may include taking your Little home, meeting up with the contact person, going to the emergency contact's home, taking your Little to the hospital, or calling 911. It's always a good idea to periodically discuss an emergency plan with the parent.
