The Siemens Competition, a nationwide science research contest for high school students, has announced the 2010 semifinalists and finalists. Funded by the Siemens Foundation and administered by the College Board, the Siemens Competition annually awards college scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 in individual and team categories.

Click on Siemens Competition Regional Finals at Caltech for details.  The winners of each regional competition are then invited to compete in the National Finals at New York University in early December.  To learn more, please visit: The Siemens Foundation.
OC Wishworks Benefit Concert
Avid's own Ethan Yoshioka and a group of his friends founded OC Wishworks, a charity group working to raise funds for larger philanthropic organizations. OC Wishworks fundraises by hosting concerts.  Last year, at their debut concert on Mother's Day the charity raised over $1000 for AmeriCares, an OCR that delivers medical and nutritional aid to those in need internationally.

On December 5, 2010 OC Wishworks is hosting its second concert from 3 pm to 4 pm at the Laguna Hills Community Center.  Tickets are $5.00 each with proceeds going to ASPCA, which works to prevent cruelty toward animals nationwide.

The concert program includes: "Winter", "Beautiful", "When Christmas Comes to Town", "Allemande" and more.

To help support this charity, or to learn more, please contact ocwishworks@gmail.com or visit their website OC WISHWORKS.
