Quilted Strait
Port Gamble, Washington
Greetings!
"It is hard to be a true individual these days but it's certainly more achievable if you make an item yourself from scratch, putting your own mark on it"

I was thinking the other day that when I was young, I always thought that by the time far distant in the future when 2011 rolled around I would surely be traveling from place to place in my spaceship. Wishful thinking I guess, but all the same I am looking forward to the wonderful things we have planned at the shop in 2011 and will plan to at least travel to and from in my iphone equipped car and this year I WILL finish my Crazy Quilt Project that is well, not quite as old as my children, but definitely a lot older than my grandchildren! Be sure to check out the crazy quilt links below.

We are excited to be hosting Barbara Shapel here at the shop in March. She will be teaching two classes, one thread painting class, Lotus and Spirals, a machine applique construction class. Both classes are based on her original patterns and reflect, as does much of her work, her love and respect for the natural world.
Piecefully,
Kris

Book Review - Quick Little Landscape Quilts
Quick Little Landscapes
Most of the miniature landscapes included in Quick Little Landscapes by Joyce Becker book were designed to be glued or fused onto fast2fuse or Timtex and then free motion stitched into place, matted and then framed like a photo. This is Joyce Becker's third landscape book and like her others she is meticulous about attending to the elements of composition and design. She has also included embellishment ideas, tips on enhancing designs with inks and pastels and photo transfer. These great little projects are suitable for all levels of expertise, and would make great family or group projects as well. There are a variety of projects to get you started and use as a jumping off point for your own ideas!
