"It is hard to be a true individual these days
but it's certainly more achievable if you make an item yourself from scratch,
putting your own mark on it"
We are happily settling into our new location and can now find things like where we put the tape, the scissors and the new blades for the rotary cutter. The place is beginning to feel like home..... We are grateful to have been so warmly welcomed by the quilters in the area and have been excited to meet so many quilters from other places as they have passed through this historic little town. As I am sitting in my office/sewing space in what used to be the hayloft in the building and listening to the rain on the roof, and watching folks set up outside for the Kitsap Medieval Fair there is no place I would rather be. Several of us at the shop are absolutely smitten with the newest group of patterns from Crabapple Hill Studio - especially the Snow Days pattern and we are impatiently waiting for our shipment of Cosmo variegated flosses to arrive so that we can start stitching right away! As soon as the flosses arrive we will put both the patterns and the
floss kits up on the website. Each day also brings more threads and patterns for our cross stitch department, and we have each accumulated a long list of "have to do" projects. The UPS driver probably thinks that we are quite taken with his personal charms, as we always run to the door when he arrives, but the truth is we just want to see where the boxes are from and what new treasures he is bringing us. We are also getting in quite a few fabric collections to fill up our new shelves and Christmas and Autumn fabrics have begun to arrive as well. We have received
several more groups in the last couple of days, but my current favorite
is still Winter's Grace from Northcott Fabrics by
Mark Lipinski. Piecefully, Kris You no longer need to sign up for our newsletter drawing each month - if you are receiving the newsletter you are automatically included in the drawing.

Design your own fabric!
|
We have all wandered up and down the aisles of the quilt shop with the perfect fabric in mind, only to find out that unfortunately the fabric is just in our minds...not on the shelf of the quilt shop. Digitally printed fabric could change all of that. Enter the Spoonflower design community. You can design your own fabric and have it printed by the folks at Spoonflower. The company was founded in May 2008 by two
Internet geeks who had crafty wives but who knew nothing about textiles.
The company came about because Stephen's wife, Kim, persuaded him that
being able to print her own fabric for curtains was a really cool idea.
She wasn't alone. The Spoonflower community now numbers around 70,000
individuals who use their own fabric to make curtains, quilts, clothes,
bags, furniture, dolls, pillows, framed artwork, costumes, banners and
much, much more. Spoonflower uses Digital textile printers which are are large-format inkjet printers
specially modified to run fabric.....check it out!
