ABC Nation,

 

  The week is off to a great start. The coaches and I have been busy working with ball players to "iron out" the wrinkles from this past weekend. We always enjoy helping ball players make adjustments from week to week and it displays a high level of maturity when ball players get back to work on their game regardless if they went 3 for 3 or 0 for 3 each game. Today many ABC teams are scheduled to play ball games so please pay close attention to the designated color of pants and jersey your team has been assigned.

Below are some action items for your review:

*Please make sure you communicate in advance when you have a conflict with the game schedule. The coaching staff begins the planning process for game day line-ups, batting order and pitching rotations well in advance. If you have a conflict with a scheduled weekend game please take a minute to respond to this e-mail to communicate. Thank you in advance.

Take a minute to read through all of the notes posted (for each team). Coaches have recognized a weekend MVP as well as a ball player who turned in a strong performance and made a strong impression. Check your team page for game day info for this weekend (6/15-6/17). Game times will be posted when posted when they come available. Many of the events we play in have a tournament website that you can be checking on your own to see if info has been posted. Please use the directions link found on your team page. I strongly encourage you to research venue locations well in advance.

I am most interested in seeing how ball players (and parents) handle adversity. Use the games this weekend to help give you insight into how mentally tough you are. Not in the line-up? Not pitching when you think you should? Your ball player got 1/2 the AB's? Can you process and handle the glaring adversity that accompanies this game?

Heads up: on any given weekend around the ABC Nation it's possible for teams to rise to the occasion and play solid fundamental baseball. On the contrary, when we struggle to throw strikes, struggle to put the ball in play and/or struggle on defense......it can make for a long day at the ball park. Teams need to execute in a minimum of two areas listed above to have a shot at winning consistently.
