A Great Time of  the Year
Greetings!

This is a really great time of year.  I am writing this on Veterans Day, and have to ask you to do one thing for me.  Thank a veteran.  Thank them for serving, no matter where they served.  If you are a veteran, I am grateful that you help keep our country free, often at great personal sacrifice.  So please accept our gratitude, sometimes we don't act like we're thankful, but we are.

Now, here are some other ideas that I want to share.  It is the holiday season; you may be reading this in December.  Thanksgiving is past, Christmas is upon us.  Hope you had a good Thanksgiving celebration, some family time, and ate like you were having your last meal.  OK, not a good analogy, just hope you had a good mealtime.  Now, for Christmas.  I have a similar message each year at this time, and here it goes.  Think more of others than you do of yourself.  Not just about the gifts, the parties, but the entire month.  Think of how others who are less fortunate than you are getting along.  You may want to visit a hospital, nursing home, or just stop by a neighbor who can't get out this time of year.  I understand that this is the worst time of year for heart attacks; we just have a lot of stress in our lives during this season.

I also want to share with you what is happening with our grandson, McKade.  He read his first book to us today!  Yep, this morning.  I am still amazed at what he can do.  He is a genius, but still surprises me with what he figures out on a daily basis.  He is five, now in kindergarten, and loves his school and teachers.  Did you know they have homework in kindergarten?  News to me, but a lot is new to me.  He has to write his letters, make a sentence, draw a picture, lots of things to do after he gets home.  He quotes his teacher a lot, seems she can do no wrong.  Teachers, they are not appreciated nearly enough for what they do.  So thank them this season, they are helping focus the minds of our future generations.  You don't have to buy them a turkey, or a Starbucks gift certificate (although they would probably like it if you did!), just thinking of them is nice and appreciated.

I just heard a TV personality tell us, if you ask your grandson what he is getting you for Christmas, you just don't get it.  It is all about the other people in your life, not you.

You also need to be involved in a worship service this season.  So plan on it.  Don't wait till the last minute, think out when you want to go, and who is going, all the details.  And you may try something new, perhaps a different type of worship service altogether.  We need to take time to thank our creator for all he has done, and is doing in our lives.

Now, on a personal note, we are cranking on our new home....

Warmest Regards,
