Greetings!
Happy New Year to you and your fiance! This month's real wedding story is near and dear as two of our friends shared memories of their day with us at the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth--just seven miles north of Newport on the Sakonnet River. As more of our friends plan summer weddings, keep in mind that weddings in January through March offer brides deeper discounts so you can stay on budget and look stunning in a faux fur muff! Our Newport Bridal Show is just around the corner, so save yourself time by pre-registering online today and see below for a sample of some of our door prizes. -NLM |

Andrea Dillinger & David Rollin
Glen Manor House, August 31, 2007
After three years together, David Rollin took his girlfriend, Andrea Dillinger, on a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he popped the question at the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel. Little did Andrea know, David had planned the getaway as a chance for the couple to return to their hometowns in Pennsylvania to tell their families the good news. "Everyone already knew but me!" Andrea says. Andrea and David's history began with two Newport community events. They met at the Newport Winter Festival's martini contest in February 2002 and danced together for the first time at the Black Ships Gala in July 2003. Since Andrea and David both work in Newport (Andrea at Marketing and Events and David at Newport Grand) they wanted to get married in the City-by-the-Sea to introduce their families and friends to Aquidneck Island's scenic beauty. They exchanged vows at Emmanuel Church in Newport and then welcomed everyone to Glen Manor House, a French chateau on the banks of the Sakonnet River in Portsmouth. "In 2005, I actually emailed the Glen Manor website to my cousin and aunt and said that I thought it would be a beautiful place to get married," Andrea says. Swarovski crystals sparkled throughout the mansion for the entire evening, as Andrea entered wearing a crinkle taffeta strapless gown carrying a bouquet of peach mini calla lilies, pink Rosita Vandela roses, pale green cymbidium orchids, peach and mango Mozart mini callas and mini crystals. Personalized touches of handmade jewelry by the bride and the mother of the groom adorned the bridesmaids, and chocolates made by David's grandmother, Dorothy Sutton, tempted guests to try more than one. "Our original idea was a simple, small gathering," Andrea says, "but it turned into a magical fairytale thanks to friends and family who showered us with gifts of love." David and Andrea stayed in the Newport Harbor Hotel before jet setting to Paris, France, and the Virgin Islands for their honeymoon.-RC
