Jessica Cazallis &
Geoff Curley OceanCliff January 5, 2008
When she worked at OceanCliff as a young woman, Jessica Cazallis couldn't help but peek into the ballroom to watch brides and grooms dance the night away in wedded bliss. Growing up in Tiverton, Jessica and her sister spent summers on the beaches of Newport, eventually moving to the City-by-the-Sea as an adult. Working as a promotional model early in the summer of 2002 for Svedka Vodka, she crossed paths with Geoff Curley, a marketing guru that represented the swanky Swedish spirits. The two were smitten and after a few years of dating, Geoff, son of Tom and Ann Curley of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, whisked Jessica away on a romantic weekend escape to Martha's Vineyard for a spring respite. At the lauded French bistro Alchemy, Geoff asked Jessica to be his wife, "and everything sort of went black," giggles Jessica, who happily accepted the proposal. No sooner than the bauble was slipped onto her ring finger did Jessica know where they would celebrate the wedding - at OceanCliff. "It was my dream location," she says. "We booked the entire hotel so most of our guests stayed there - it was an all-weekend celebration!" Geoff and Jessica shied away from Newport's most hectic months and planned a wedding weekend in the heart of the city's quietest season. Days into the new year, Jessica, escorted by her mother Linda McLaughlin of Dudley, Massachusetts, walked down the aisle of historic Kay Chapel while serenaded by a soprano opera singer who had traveled from New York City to Newport that morning - but not before an unexpected delay. "Our flower girl used up almost the entire bridal processional to carefully place each petal all the way down the aisle," says the bride. "She won the hearts of each and every person in the church." When the doors of the nearly 140-year-old chapel swung open, the newlyweds jetted off by trolley en route to the waterfront reception. As guests sipped champagne and dined on hors d'oeuvres, the newlyweds snuck into the ballroom for a private moment, taking in the warm glow of candlelight topping the softly illuminated sweetheart table awash with rose petals. "Seeing as the wedding was around the holidays, I still wanted to re-create 'holiday feeling' without the holiday decorations," explains Jessica. As they made their debut as man and wife surrounded by family and friends, Geoff and Jessica shared their first dance to It Had To Be You by Harry Connick, Jr., a tune that had long been tucked away as the bride's favorite. "It's the song I wanted to dance to since I was in 8th grade," she confesses. "The fact that all of the people we love the most in this world were in one place to celebrate our wedding was amazing and completely overwhelming."-AM

The Skinniest Day of a Woman's Life Here's to making your wedding day the happiest, healthiest day of you life. Many women have been planning their wedding since the days of their first elementary school crush. We've practiced our new signature, imagined the dress, envisioned the flowers, and dreamed about the cake. After the proposal, though, when the plans are really underway, we spend less time daydreaming and more time worrying. For so long we've imagined ourselves at our most radiant walking down the aisle, that now we can't help but to fret about looking perfect on the big day. We start skipping dessert and hitting the gym in hopes of wedding photos that make us proud.
It is sometimes joked that the wedding day is "the skinniest day of a woman's life." Certainly we want to look our very best, but in our amped up routine of diet and exercise, remember that it's more important to be a healthy bride than a skinny bride. Continue avoiding ice cream and passing up pizza, but remember that you need carbohydrates for energy and a healthy nutritional plan to have your body working with you, not against you.
Instead of focusing on which foods to avoid (which can be depressing), try thinking about what you should aim to eat more of. Fish is a healthy diet choice for brides-to-be as the omega 3 fatty acids can improve the complexion. Similarly, vitamin A does wonders for skin. This means dark orange and dark green vegetables, including carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli and spinach. Vitamin E, which can be found in most nuts, is said to be rich in fiber and antioxidants. For gorgeous and healthy hair to match, drink plenty of water and get the fiber your tresses need from fruits and veggies, grains and legumes.
Most importantly, remember that your wedding day is really a celebration of your marriage, and that your hubby-to-be will feel like the luckiest man on earth no matter what the scale says. With love in your eyes (plus glowing skin and a gorgeous head of hair) how could you not look perfect on your wedding day?
