Danielle Thibeault & Benjamin (Nick) Williams At Fort Adams on June 16, 2007
On a romantic evening in Jamestown overlooking the Newport Bridge, Danielle Thibeault's weekly dinner party transpired into a night of engagement and promise. Nick Williams presented his bride-to-be with a 2-carat, antique ring that had been passed down through generations of his family, hoping that Danielle would accept his proposal to be his wife. The couple first met through a mutual friend while Danielle was studying at Colby-Sawyer College. Danielle, daughter of Stephen and Denise Thibeault of Sebago, Maine, and Nick, a Newport native and son of Scott Williams of Newport and Bonnie Finn, a born Newporter currently calling Middlesex, Vermont, home, chose to tie the knot in the centuries-old North Casemate at Fort Adams. "We love the fact that it is a historic part of Newport," Danielle says. "We also love the view of the harbor and especially the bridge, which is one of our favorite things about Newport." In a sentimental twist, the ceremony was officiated by the bride's grandmother, Pastor Constance Fogg. The bride donned a traditional satin and lace ballgown while the groom and groomsmen, in quintessential New England style, sported navy blue blazers, blue shirts bedecked by striped J. Crew ties, and khaki pants - with flip flops. Following the ceremony, the bridal party led the parade of guests to the tented waterfront reception on the Fort's North Lawn. Soon, the spirited early evening revelry was interrupted by an unexpected invasion of pirates. "Yes, pirates!" the bride says. "There happened to be a pirate-themed fundraiser on the other side of the fort; I guess the pirates noticed our wedding and decided to pay us a visit. It was a total surprise!" Before the swashbucklers were on their merry way, they serenaded the newlyweds and landlubbers and toasted them with grog. Incorporating a personalized touch and original style, the bride utilized her confectionary talents to create a sweet surprise. She designed the six-tier cupcake cake, with each chocolate and coconut buttercream cupcake ornamented with blue or white sugar flower, topped by a small cake decorated with sugar pearls and a bouquet of hydrangeas. Seashell themed with various shades of blue, the Williams' wedding looked almost ethereal against the darkening sky.
After the summer nuptials, the couple honeymooned to sultry Soufriere, St. Lucia. Danielle, a graduate student studying Rehabilitation Counseling at Salve Regina University, and Nick, owner of B.N. Williams Painting, reside in Newport.-DC |

Signature Cocktails Making your day special is all about the details. One quick way to stand out is to create a signature cocktail. You can model it around your chosen color, "Pink Paradise," "Green Monster," or "Purple Passion." Or your theme, "Island Breeze," "Summer Winds", or "Romantic Interlude." Have fun with it, combine your names "Julia-John-Jammer" or "Marcy-Mark-Tini." Still stuck? Use your reception venue as inspiration with the "RoseCliff Rum Punch," the "Belcourt Belini," or the "Linden Lemondrop." And if you go with the "Newportini" you just can't loose, cheers!
