The NUCA of NM/OSHA Alliance is also offering FREE OSHA 10 Training in Spanish and English on October 23, 2009. You can sign up online at www.nucanm.org.

It's also time for NUCA of NM's Annual Golf Tournament, Last Ditch Open. We'll be out at the Santa Ana Golf Course this year, so come out for a fun, relaxing day out of the office. Registration information is another section of the newsletter.

The Ballots for the 2010 Board of Directors will be mailed to you on October 1, 2009. You will receive only one per company. If you are interested in serving as a Board Member for NUCA of NM, please contact the Association office for further details. There is also a 'write in candidate' box on the ballot.

I would like to encourage you to get involved in a NUCA of NM or NUCA Committee before the end of the year. Soon, the Committees will be planning out 2010 and this is an excellent time to be a part of the direction of NUCA of NM. Most committees meet monthly at the same time and place, so it's easy to fit into your schedule. Check out the online calendar for upcoming dates.

CICA -

APDThe Construction Industry Crime Alliance (CICA) was created to help the businesses in the construction industry. All NUCA of NM members are welcome to attend and sign up for crime alerts and information at the APD web page www.safecityabq.org.

We will meet monthly at NW Area Command Headquarters; 4051 Ellison Avenue, NW 87114 (right across the street from Cibola High School) The next meeting will be on September 8 , 2009  at 10:30am.

Why go to the meetings?
  • Attendees share information on trends, crimes and current cases. It is an opportunity to talk about what the police are seeing out there and what the industry is dealing with in regards to criminal activity.
  • For example, last month there was a discussion regarding how:
    •  Criminals are checking equipment for GPS,
    • Locations that equipment is being bought and sold from various states.
    • How signage and markings can be instrumental in deterring thieves from stealing your equipment and tools and also how it can assist in retrieving stolen goods.
    • Victim activity in a pending case.
    • Small equipment such as welders and generators are being stolen and how you can help stop this from happening.
    • APD's policy with insurance companies and reporting concerns.
The CICA is a tool for Association members that sends out alerts of job-site crime and also has the ability for you to report crime on your job sites (system is not intended to be used in place of an actual police report). This program is an avenue to work closely with APD to help curtail job-site crimes and catch the criminals in the process. Bring your concerns, reports, incidents (even un-reported) to this meeting where you can also sign up on-line to receive valuable information about crime on construction job sites.

To become a member you must sign up through the APD Web Page and then be verified as a NUCA of NM Member.

CLICK HERE to go to the web page to sign up. The CICA is second on the list.
