From the Executive Director's Desk,
The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions Labor Relations Division is conducting its 2009 annual wage survey to determine wage rates to be paid on public works projects in New Mexico. Please submit your payroll date for Public and Non-Public Works construction projects for all work performed in the month of JUNE 2009. The data submitted will set new wage rates for all public works construction projects in 2010. The Wage Survey Database will be accepting Electronic submission of data online starting on JULY 16, 2009 and ending on JULY 31, 2009. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey, since, as you know, NUCA of NM is a plaintiff in a lawsuit which is attempting to keep this survey intact for future reporting rather than using collective bargaining agreements. Contractor members will receive the Wage Survey Participant Letter, 4 lists of Surveyable Classifications (Types A,B,C &H), and new and different for 2009 in the mail this week. (week ending June 26). For survey training, please visit the web page http://www.dws.state.nm.us/dws-laborRel.html You can attend a class or go through 'self training' online.
Also, if you are planning to attend the NUCA Fall Board and Committee meetings in September, you will need either a Passport Book or Passport Card to travel in and out of Canada. See details for the meetings below.
I wish everyone a happy and safe July 4th Holiday!

Eye on New Mexico |
By Carla J. Sonntag NUCA-NM Lobbyist I have organized a meeting of business owners, association executives and other interested parties to discuss how we will get involved in the next statewide election cycle. If we don't get to work now for victories in the next election cycle, it will mean exponential losses for business that will be increasingly difficult to overcome. This meeting is not being widely publicized and will be by invitation only. Any member of NUCA-NM is encouraged to attend. Please contact me directly for additional information at (505) 836-4223 or govrelations@msn.com Hope to see you there!

CICA |
The Construction Industry Crime Alliance (CICA) was created to help the businesses in the construction industry. All NUCA of NM members are welcome to attend and sign up for crime alerts and information at the APD web page www.safecityabq.org. We will meet monthly at NW Area Command Headquarters; 4051 Ellison Avenue, NW 87114 (right across the street from Cibola High School) The next meeting will be on July 1 , 2009 at 10:30am.
The CICA is a tool for Association members that sends out alerts of job-site crime and also has the ability for you to report crime on your job sites (system is not intended to be used in place of an actual police report). This program is an avenue to work closely with APD to help curtail job-site crimes and catch the criminals in the process. Bring your concerns, reports, incidents (even un-reported) to this meeting where you can also sign up on-line to receive valuable information about crime on construction job sites.
To become a member you must sign up through the APD Web Page and then be verified as a NUCA of NM Member.
CLICK HERE to go to the web page to sign up. The CICA is second on the list. |

OSHA Training
|
|
Need OSHA 500 or 510 training?
The University of Texas at Arlington would like to teach the OSHA 500 and OSHA 510 in Albuquerque if they can get a class of 10-12 together. NUCA of NM is working with another association to help bring this training here and keep the cost as low as possible. At this time, the approximate cost would be $595 for the OSHA 510. Please be advised that you can no longer take the OSHA 500 online anymore.
If you are interested in this training, please contact Jane at the Association office at 505 888 0752.
