| From the Executive Director's Desk,
Thank you to all who participated in the Associate Showcase last week; the event seemed to be quite a success and will more than likely become an annual event. There were 19 vendors and 85 participants in all. See below for photos and a wrap-up of the event.
Moving on.... the NUCA Washington Summit is just around the corner and representatives from NUCA of NM will be visiting Washington DC and talking to the NM Delegation. See below for the main issues and more information on the Summit.
The NUCA and NUCA of NM Scholarship application forms are now available, so if you have a senior graduating this year, please encourage them to apply. There is $17,000 available in scholarship funds this year.
Don't miss out on the NUCA of NM Isotopes night scheduled for Mary 23, 2009. Tickets are only $11 per person and seats are limited so register right away. This is also a fireworks night (weather permitting)
On May 8, 2009, Bill Devinney, AON Risk Services, is teaching a Communication Class. This is perfect for management, supervisors, foreman or those who may become management. You can register online by clicking HERE. The only cost is $20 which includes your lunch.

2009 NUCA of NM Excellence in Safety Award |
Congratulations to Western Summit of New Mexico for being awarded the 2009 NUCA of NM Excellence in Safety Award. This award is in recognition of a commitment to safety and an outstanding safety record for over 500,000 man hours.

This year's Washington Summit/Spring Board & Committee Meetings are scheduled for May 17-20 at the Hotel Monaco in "Old Town" Alexandria, Virginia. (800) 368-5047. You have until April 23rd to receive the NUCA group rate.

FY2010 Appropriations: ask for appropriations to match the budget proposals as outlined in the White House, House and Senate budgets

Push the Senate to pass its version of SRF reauthorization, and discuss importance of reauthorization to House members (depending on how they voted for HR 1262);
Employee Free Choice Act
Health Care
There may also be some OSHA issues in the next few weeks that may be added to the agenda.
Please note that NUCA will be charging a nominal registration fee ($125 for members, $225 for nonmembers) to help defray the costs associated with four networking events. This year, NUCA's annual national awards will be presented at a National Awards Breakfast included in the registration fee. Click here for the schedule of events.
