Carmichael retiring as president, CEO of Kitsap Bank

The bank he's retiring from is a whole lot bigger than it was when Jim Carmichael came to Port Orchard 35 years ago, joining the executive management of Kitsap County Bank in 1977 when it had $47 million in assets and four offices. Carmichael will retire as president and CEO at the end of June, having shepherded Kitsap Bank's steady growth into an institution that has more than $900 million in assets and operates 21 locations across five counties in Western Washington. Kitsap Mental Health Awarded $1.8 to Improve Health Care, Save Lives

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today announced that Kitsap Mental Health Services is among the first batch of organizations to receive a Health Care Innovation awards. KMHS will be receiving a $1,858,437 award to integrate care for one thousand severely mentally ill or severely emotionally disturbed adults and children receiving KMHS services. The project will improve client health, reduce avoidable emergency room visits and hospitalizations, and save an estimated $5.8 million. Read more...

First WSU Bremerton engineers graduate

WSU News, Tina Hilding, College of Engineering and Architecture

 

The first 14 students in Washington State University's mechanical engineering program at Olympic College, Bremerton, will travel to Pullman this weekend to become WSU engineering graduates.

 

WSU began offering the unique bachelor's degree program in fall 2010. Developed jointly by OC and WSU, the program aims to provide a more affordable way for place-bound students in the Bremerton area to pursue a mechanical engineering degree. Small Vessel Security Threats (SVST) Forum Puget Sound -  Leveraging technology to secure our maritime domain from small vessel security threats

July 18th and 19th, 2012

The SVST Forum was created to bring together stakeholders from all sectors of maritime security to discuss and put in motion the implementation plan for the Small Vessel Security Strategy (SVSS) released by DHS last spring. The Puget Sound program will discuss technology needs and use in implementing the SVSS to secure our maritime domain from small vessel security threats.
