A New Industry for Kitsap. In case you missed it, we announced at our annual Decision Makers Breakfast that Profile Composites has chosen Kitsap for it's expanding business. Profile, based in British Columbia, is a manufacturer of composite products. Products will include "Side Stix" crutches and collapsible wheelchairs. They will be hiring disabled workers and are looking to use local vendors as much as possible. The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences contacted KEDA for assistance in making the case for Kitsap. Geoff Wood, Profile President noted that Mayor Patty Lent and Bremerton has welcomed him with open arms. They hope to set up shop at the Port of Bremerton. Profile intends to hire 200 people within three years.

Calling all startups: KEDA is reaching out to all businesses who started operations here in 2009 and 2010. As a part of a block grant, we intend to provide support to these businesses of the future by introducing them to government contracting. Many of our current businesses do some level of government contracting. This is a source of business stability given the large array of contracting opportunities here.
KEDA to host Annual Meeting on March 24, 2011, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Silverdale Beach Hotel. This is our annual luncheon event and investor member meeting. Stay tuned for more details and registration information.
3rd Annual Pacific Northwest Defense Symposium to be held at the Kitsap Conference Center August 17 & 18. The theme this year is energy and security. Military leaders, industry experts, defense contractors, and anyone interested in doing business with the Navy attend this event. The 17th is reserved for a reception and live demonstrations followed by a full day symposium on the 18th. Sponsorships and vender booths are available. However, the booths fill up quickly so be sure to get your spot. Watch for additional information and how to register in the coming weeks.
