Greetings
At EFJohnson, we are working to identify innovative and meaningful ways to help our customers protect and save lives. Since joining the company at the end of last year, I have been encouraged by the enthusiasm of our team for rededicating themselves to quality and service so we may accomplish this vital mission.
Today, we are working hard to make continuous improvements to our quality control systems. We have a long history of developing and manufacturing cost-effective, high-quality communications solutions, and it is our expectation that we will continue building on this heritage. By manufacturing a significant portion of our products in North Texas, and utilizing our satellite offices in Waseca, MN, and Lincoln, NE, we also have the ability to efficiently address any customer request.
In addition to our product focus, EFJohnson continues to improve response times to our customers. The vital public safety role of our equipment means that our products and services must be delivered on time, and our team must be able to provide you with outstanding service and support to anticipate and meet all your needs. We invite our customers to contact anyone on the EFJohnson team at any time to address a need or handle any request.
As part of our customer service enhancements, we are introducing The Responder, a quarterly newsletter through which we will share relevant updates about new regulations, user tips and strategies, system and subscriber case studies and information about new products. I hope that you will spend a few moments reviewing the articles and thinking about how these solutions may apply to your organization.
It's a new day at EFJohnson, and I am excited about the future opportunities. We look forward to continuing our work with you and providing innovative solutions that will fulfill your specific communications needs.
Sincerely,
Andy Adams, CEO

Across the nation, every state, county and city is working to upgrade or replace its communications systems in order to comply with new federal interoperability standards.
Over the past year, EFJohnson has been working with the Wisconsin Interoperability System for Communications (WISCOM) to build a common statewide system that will allow responders to seamlessly communicate during an emergency. This system, which is shared with statewide law enforcement, fire services, EMS and emergency management agencies, is designed to operate with existing radio systems and will be expanded over time through local upgrades. By leveraging WISCOM, local agencies have an unprecedented opportunity for long-term cost savings by sharing infrastructure costs and avoiding equipment duplication.

The West Virginia Army National Guard (WVARNG) was recently named a winner of the Army Community of Excellence Award (ACOE), a world-wide program recognizing Army and Army National Guard garrisons for their overall high performance, use of innovative technology, quality of life and management techniques. A contributing factor to WVARNG's selection for this award was development of the Mobile Deployment Kit, a rural communications solution built by EFJohnson. The kit was created by Sergeant Gordon Craft of the WVARNG in order to help solve the organization's radio and wireless communications problems resulting from the state's rural nature, difficult terrain, and need for higher powered radios.
Commonly referred to as the "Gordo Box" in deference to its creator, the kit includes an EFJohnson 5300ES Remote Mobile radio with a handheld control head, a 24V/12V power converter, 110W power supply and cables contained within a hard, deployable case. The versatility of the equipment enables its use in multiple vehicles, including a HUMVEE, passenger car or in a standard wall socket.

EFJohnson Radios Outperform Others in Texas Wildfires

In April 2011, a series of devastating wildfires similar to those regularly experienced in California broke out across Possum Kingdom Lake, a community just 90 miles west of Fort Worth, Texas. The fire destroyed over 150 homes and scorched over 125,000 acres of land. Thousands of firefighters answered the call for help, and each crew brought different brands and models of portable radios to communicate with each other. According to Mike Richardson, Chief of the Decatur Fire Department, EFJohnson radios outperformed all other brands in the field. See Full Article... See Letter from Chief Mike Richardson
