Council Bids Farewell to Friend and Supporter: Dr. Lewis "L.P." Graham, President, Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of SC.

Dr. Lewis "L.P." Graham, President of the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of SC, died suddenly Sunday morning, April 20, 2008. Dr. Graham and his quiet, yet strong, servant-leadership will be missed by many.

In addition to serving as Convention President, Dr. Graham was pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Columbia. Active locally and nationally in many organizations, Dr. Graham was a supporter of the South Carolina Christian Action Council having
formerly served as a member of the Council's Board of Directors.

Graham's tenure as President of the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention was marked by his effort to stabilize the convention and to spur it to a deeper Spiritual life and greater ministry efforts.

Although in deep grief, the Convention officers and staff are in the final stages of preparation for its Annual Meeting which will continue as scheduled May 5-9 at Morris College in Sumter.

I know you join me in prayer for Dr. Graham's family (contact info below), his congregation, the staff and officers of the Baptist E&M Convention, and the large convention family.
