Microsoft - Organizations Solving the World's Toughest Problems, Turn to Windows Azure
When the 9.0 magnitude Tohoku earthquake struck off the east coast of Japan last March, with lives and livelihoods on the line, Aidmatrix didn't have a second to spare. Aidmatrix quickly created a Windows Azure account and got the application up and running in two hours. Previously, Aidmatrix built datacenters in the United States, but latency issues forced the organization to begin locating them around the world, closer to where relief organizations carry out their work. So, when the earthquake in Japan struck, Aidmatrix relied on Windows Azure, rather than spend time and money building its own local datacenter. Food Banks in the United States Find Hunger Success with Aidmatrix
Aidmatrix would like to congratulate all eight food banks, located in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia, that signed on to use AgencyExpress® to increase their hunger-relief capacity in 2011. AgencyExpress is a hunger-relief program that uses online ordering technology to enable Feeding America's network member food banks to list food inventories online, providing hunger-relief agencies the opportunity to view and order food from their food banks in a simple and efficient manner.
This holiday season, please consider making a donation of cash, food or your time to your local food bank. There are millions of families throughout the country who could use your help, this month especially.
