Hurricane Irene's effects on the Eastern coast of the United States continues as storm-damaged and flooded areas try to recover. The State Offices of Emergency Services, FEMA and the relief community have begun the recovery process and each State has its own portal on the National Donations Management Network in order to streamline the giving process. As always, cash donations are the most useful to the relief agencies so they can acquire the precise materials needed. In addition, to make in-kind donations or to view the specific needs of the relief community in these areas, visit www.ndmn.us |

Aidmatrix Wins Microsoft's "Most Valuable Partner - 2011 Japan Earthquake & Tsunami" Award
Aidmatrix recently received an award for "Outstanding service and partnership in Microsoft Disaster Response Activities." We were awarded their "Most Valuable Partner - 2011 Japan Earthquake & Tsunami." The award is based on the partnership between Aidmatrix, Microsoft and Avanade on leading edge work with Microsoft Azure. Microsoft Azure is a "cloud" or universal computer infrastructure that will soon allow Aidmatrix products to scale up quickly in times of disaster, instead of paying to have large numbers of servers sitting nearly idle - waiting for the big moment to happen. This helps a disaster response program for Japan have the same quality of experience as the hunger relief systems in the USA.

Attention INGOs: Grant Opportunity with New International Transportation Program
Aidmatrix developed a web portal technology and supporting program infrastructure that aims to match freight forwarders with the needs of International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs). A limited number of places are currently available to INGOs interested in collaborating in this trial. If you do at least 3 moves per month, a grant opportunity exists until October 31, 2011 to join the program for free. Applications are subject to approval - Apply online at www.aidmatrix.org/transportation
The idea, according to Aidmatrix's European Operations Coordinator, Dave Makepeace, is to create an online community where specific transport needs can be packaged and published online for logistics service providers (LSPs) to bid on. The result is not only a targeted, high-turnaround marketplace, but also a system that supports the development of relationships and trust between INGOs and LSPs.

USAID's New Global Broadband and Innovations (GBI) Program Highlights Aidmatrix as a Model for Safeguarding and Fostering Global Food Security Gains
"Although more widely known for its expertise in disaster relief needs assessment and donations management, Aidmatrix's aid sector-sensitive and technological approach could help foster and safeguard gains in global food security, if deployed contextually on a broader scale. Food insecurity is caused by a wide range of factors, including declining yields, inadequate investment in research and infrastructure, and increased water scarcity, but it is also brought about by immense waste ... Aidmatrix's technology could aid in efficiently warehousing and transporting these goods to places where they are needed most."

Aidmatrix Introduces Digital Ball Event to Dallas - Ft. Worth; Founders' Dinner October 2011
In anticipation of the inaugural DFW Digital Ball of 2012, Aidmatrix is hosting an invitation-only Digital Ball Founders' Dinner on Thursday, October 20, 2011. The event will convene some of DFW's most elite technology innovators and thought leaders to lay the groundwork for the 2012 Digital Ball. The go-to CIO black-tie event, modeled after our NPower Texas affiliate organizations' sellout events in Charlotte, NC, and Atlanta, GA, will solidify DFWs place as the global epicenter for technology innovation for nonprofit organizations.
Members of the Digital Ball Founders' Dinner will play an instrumental role in orchestrating next year's Digital Ball event by serving on event planning committees which will work to secure DFWs top CIOs as event hosts, attract local corporate sponsors, develop the event guest list and provide consultation on the world class entertainment for the event.
Our Advisory Committee is accepting applications from interested parties and will offer a select number of invitations to the Founders' Dinner on October 20, 2011. Please note, sponsorship is required for Digital Ball Founders' Dinner attendees. If you are interested in a seat at our October 20, 2011 Digital Ball Founders Dinner, please contact Karen_Krygowski@aidmatrix.org.
