Haiti - Families Still Recovering, Relief Still Flowing
A year has gone since that catastrophic day last January in Haiti, and while things are improving, the people of Haiti are still in great need of assistance. Just last week, Aidmatrix-partner AirLink transported water purification systems to Haiti from One World Environment (a water development NGO) through Aerobridge. The equipment will be installed in two schools, providing safe drinking Airlink Water Purification Childrenwater to hundreds of children. One World Environment is installing water purification systems in Haitian schools to protect the children from Cholera and other water-borne diseases (read more).

This week our systems helped AirLink connect with UPS who fully donated the transportation of several oxygen Concentrator Machines from Ohio to Port Au Prince to help people suffering from tuberculosis in the post-Haiti-earthquake-environment at HUEH General Hospital.

Our Aidmatrix COO was on the ground in Port Au Prince eight days after the earthquake helping set up relief warehouses for the NGOs working in area and their staff of Haitians who came to work despite uncertainty about family and friends. Our team has spent many more days there throughout the past 12 months helping ensure the recovery continues. Without these solutions that accelerate the delivery of relief, the progress will be much slower.

Even with great stories like this, the people of Haiti still need help and our solutions are making a difference to the relief organizations delivering the aid. Please help us support these and other efforts around the globe all year long so we can help ensure our nonprofit partners are prepared with state-of-the-art systems that enable them to respond to disasters at a moments' notice, while also empowering their daily development efforts. You can help with a monthly donation to Aidmatrix, where 96% of our funding goes directly to our programs. Click here to make a tax-deductible donation.
UNICEF India Selects Aidmatrix India to Help in the Campaign to End Polio
UNICEF PolioUNICEF India commented, "The Aidmatrix Foundation is an ideal organization to facilitate the partnership, as their work in the emergency sector has relied on connecting private sector companies with a desire to make donations to communities in crisis together with NGOs or other organizations who can absorb the support. Their services have been adapted for the Polio Programme. The partnership created the India Unite to End Polio Now (IUEPN) Campaign, an outreach campaign which leverages private sector resources to enhance polio knowledge and vaccination throughout India, specifically targeting nomad and mobile populations.  Read more on this initiative at the Special Edition of 107 Block Plan of the India Communication Update of UNICEF here and here."
FareShare, 2010 Winner of Britain's Most Admired Charities, Takes a Giant Step Forward in the Fight Against Food Poverty and Waste
FareShare Ribbon Cutting"Inspiring" is how the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, described the UK charity FareShare when he opened their newest food depot in time for Christmas. This is the 15th FareShare Community Food Network depot. The problem of food waste is a serious one for the City of London and 40% of approximately 1.4 million tons of food waste is dumped in landfill sites at significant cost to the City, both environmental as well as financial. The new Park Royal Depot is located in North West London and was made possible by a  £362, 000 grant from the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWaRB). This one depot is expected to distribute over 300 tons of surplus food per year to over 30 charities in the first year alone. FareShare's food depots are upgrading all their depots to use the Aidmatrix Network™ Online Warehouse Plus+ Supply Chain Solution to manage their inventory. By the end of January, five depots will be live on the software.

FEMA Region X Exercises the National Donations Management Network (NDMN)
FEMA Region X, made up of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington, exercised their processes and technology around in kind donations.  Led by Debbie Reed, State of Alaska's Voluntary Agency Liaison (VAL), 30 plus attendees participated in the online event.  Attendees included State Donations Managers, VOAD members(Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster), FEMA HQ and the FEMA Regional VALs.  "The exercise was valuable in navigating the NDMN for all participants," commented Debbie Reed. These trainings help ensure all the users of the NDMN are properly prepared to use the system in the event of a disaster. Dick Balnicky, the Regional VAL, agreed that these training sessions are an important step in preparedness: "I can say unequivocally, that the States of the Pacific North West are now better prepared to meet the needs of future disaster survivors through a more efficient utilization of goods and services." Aidmatrix Helps Facilitate Delivery of $1.9 million in Medical Supplies Through IMEC
Tuvalu IMEC ShipmentAidmatrix's International Transportation Program helped facilitate the delivery of $1.9 Million in medical equipment to Tuvalu, a remote Polynesian island, through IMEC (International Medical Equipment Collaborative) - equipment that likely otherwise would have been land filled. IMEC is a nonprofit whose mission is to serve doctors and nurses in developing countries by providing them with quality tools to advance the standard of health care for their nation's poor. Nearly 4,000 of the island's 12,000 inhabitants are children so the issue of adequate medical care is essential, especially with the prevalence of skin infections, kidney failure from diabetes, cardiac conditions, and worm infestations.
