Orthopaedic
Link Teams with Aidmatrix to
Mobilize
Donations of Surgical Implants to Developing Countries |
MUNICH, GERMANY/DALLAS, TEXAS - MAY 3, 2010 - Orthopaedic Link, a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, has joined the Aidmatrix Network ™ to drive their corporate donations outreach for orthopaedic implant devices to combat musculoskeletal disease in the developing world. The Aidmatrix Network™ is a humanitarian relief supply chain from The Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc. and it takes many of the cutting-edge supply chain principles that businesses use to move products to people and uses those concepts to help humanitarian aid move as efficiently as possible to those in need.
"The work of the Orthopaedic Link team is truly inspiring. They saw a desperate situation for surgical care and are meeting this challenge head on- providing doctors in low and middle-income societies with surplus orthopaedic implants critical to improving lives of entire communities." Elena Mendoza, European Marketing Director for the Aidmatrix Foundation.
Orthopaedic Link will use Aidmatrix' In-Kind Donations Management module to enable corporations to post donation offers easily so that the NGOs they serve can view and accept the donations they need based on need and capabilities on the ground. Using supply-chain technology Orthopaedic Link will be able to expand their donation process so that first-generation implants (plates, screws, rods used to fix fractured bones) are available at qualified surgical sites in developing countries. This supply will lead to improved care and an enhanced skill set in these countries, elevating the level of musculoskeletal health in these trauma-ridden areas.
Orthopaedic Link Founder and President, Dheera Ananthakrishnan, MD explains, "Our challenge is to mobilize orthopaedic implant companies to come together in a corporate alliance to supply equipment that would otherwise go to waste. Aidmatrix solutions can get us closer to matching surplus with need and getting these supplies to surgeons and NGOs on the ground in an organized, efficient manner." |
