FareShare and Aidmatrix Join Forces To Fight Food Poverty In The UK

DALLAS, TX - February 17, 2010 - FareShare, the United Kingdom's national food charity, has teamed up with the Aidmatrix Foundation to implement the latest version of The Aidmatrix Network™ to enable FareShare to better manage food surplus for redistribution to vulnerable people across the UK.

FareShare redistributes surplus food from the food industry to a network of more than 500 local charities that support homeless and other vulnerable people.

The Aidmatrix NetworkTM takes many of the leading-edge technology principles that businesses use to move products to people as efficiently as possible, and uses those concepts to help humanitarian aid across the world, such as facilitating the current disaster relief in Haiti.

The partnership will see the Aidmatrix Foundation investing $1.1m over 3 years and will have a great impact on FareShare's ability to handle the thousands of tonnes of food it redistributes every year. Through the use of the Aidmatrix NetworkTM, the management and monitoring of food between FareShare, the charity's suppliers and recipient projects will be more efficient.

Aidmatrix and FareShare are currently working together to expand the system to meet FareShare's requirements, building on the current Aidmatrix NetworkTM solution, which is currently being used by 38,000 organisations, including food banks and government bodies globally.

Shari Temple, Managing Director of Aidmatrix Europe: "We are very excited to be working with FareShare. Our software will provide a single location to capture, report offers and deliveries and link all stakeholders together for a more efficient delivery of the FareShare service."

David Meller, Director of Operations for FareShare says: "With the development and implementation of the Aidmatrix NetworkTM, FareShare is taking another major step to scale up its operations and improve and grow its infrastructure so it can deliver an improved service to the food industry and the community organisations that rely on its service.

We are very pleased to be working with Aidmatrix and benefit from their experience in providing software to support the delivery of humanitarian aid across the world. This move is part of our strategy to develop FareShare to a stage where the charity will be redistributing enough food to feed 100,000 people in the UK every day."

FareShare plans to roll out the Aidmatrix NetworkTM to all its depots during 2010-2011, ultimately linking these with the community organisations that benefit from the FareShare food, as well as the food companies that are partnering with FareShare to ensure that their surplus food is put to good use.
