DALLAS, TX - January 15, 2010 - Leaders from across the government, business and nonprofit sectors are activating on the Aidmatrix Network® to coordinate relief efforts for the Haitian Earthquake Relief. Project HOPE, ISTAT's (International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading) Airlink program, ALAN (American Logistics Aid Network), MedShare, Adventist Community Services (ACS), Powered by ACTION, the State of Florida, the Government of Puerto Rico's Departamento de la Familia and more have activated their portals or joined other installations on the Aidmatrix Network® in order to post needs, accept donation offers, and match them to help those in the region impacted by this devastating earthquake.
The public can go directly to the NGOs' websites for further details. In addition, our partner "Powered by ACTION" is working to simplify displaying the needs of various NGOs on their web portal on the Aidmatrix Network® as a centralized place to view current needs. The public can access the Powered by ACTION web portal at www.Aidmatrix.org/Haiti to offer donations that match those needs, or to make general offers of cash, products or services to relief groups on the ground. Communications and connectivity are difficult at present in Haiti as relief teams are still making their way to the area. The greatest needs are for cash and transportation at this time.
Powered by ACTION is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization whose mission it is to bring developing communities to thriving self-sufficiency. They practice connecting sponsors, partner organizations, local donors, local expert groups, and local residents. NGOs working in Haiti that wish to be set up on the Powered by ACTION portal in order to receive goods can request access, free-of-charge, by registering at www.Aidmatrix.org/Haiti.
In addition, many of these NGOs and governments are setting up temporary emergency warehouses to stage the incoming in-kind donations and supplies as the items are transported closer to Haiti from around the world. Transportation needs are greatest right now for these organizations to get the available aid moved closer to this island nation so they can be supplied to the teams on the ground.
Behind the scenes, these NGOs are using a web-based warehouse management module, provided as part of the Aidmatrix Network®, to provide real-time visibility into available quantities and to share the inventories in their disaster warehouses with local relief teams. Each NGO has the ability to share views into their inventory with other NGOs as well. The situation is highly fluid as pallets of products are arriving, checked in, broken down into smaller units, repackaged, and then transported out on-demand as the heroes on the scene order directly what is needed for their area.
"This weekend will be critical to getting supplies to survivors as we approach the 72-hour mark since the disaster hit," stated Robert Brown, project manager of ISTAT's Airlink program. "Meeting that window is the first goal to avoiding a second disaster of suffering as survivors become more desperate for basic medical care, food, water, and shelter." Our teams are working around-the-clock to coordinate this relief. The public's assistance is requested in making responsible donations that match the needs listed by the NGOs. The Aidmatrix Network® is an online community of nonprofits, governments and donors that work together on humanitarian crises. Each uses Aidmatrix' web-enabled applications linked through their web portal to help manage the donation, purchasing, tracking, warehousing, transportation and distribution of products and services for use in humanitarian relief. This public-private partnership enables instant information sharing, on-demand reporting, and overall transparency in an easy-to-use web tool.
