Help Aidmatrix Support the Disaster Relief in the Philippines and Indonesia
Two powerful earthquakes have caused massive damage throughout the Philippines, Indonesia and the surrounding region. A magnitude-8.0 earthquake shook the country on September 29th, and a day later, a magnitude-7.6 earthquake hit in Indonesia, causing landslides, fires and power outages. More than 200 have been found dead, but the toll is likely much higher. Please help our partners in their relief efforts by donating to Aidmatrix and our partners, International Federation of Red Cross, CARE and Children International, as we conduct disaster response and recovery efforts.
The Aidmatrix Foundation Receives $500,000 Pledge From The UPS Foundation
The Aidmatrix Foundation received a $250,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS. The grant will be used to assist in the international expansion of the Aidmatrix transportation aid relief program. The UPS Foundation is also matching this grant with $250,000 in donated transportation. "The UPS Foundation has seen the tangible impact of the Aidmatrix Network on relief efforts in the U.S. - so we are proud to support this effort to transform relief operations around the globe," said Ken Sternad, president of The UPS Foundation. The technology and processes built in the Aidmatrix program provide a framework for international NGOs to manage the transportation of commodities worldwide. Initial deployments will begin in Latin America and Eastern Europe. As more international organizations make use of these solutions, Aidmatrix hopes to become the standard for humanitarian aid.
Aidmatrix -- Texas Food Bank Network Partnership Lowers Transportation Costs 10% for Food Banks
Aidmatrix recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of a partnership with the Texas Food Bank Network (TFBN) Transportation Portal Program, which enables the food banks to leverage resources and collective purchasing power to reduce their transportation costs. By leveraging the buying power of the TFBN, Texas food banks using the system have seen an average reduction of $149.61 or approximately 10% per load.  These savings amounted to 137,635 extra meals provided across the State. "The Texas Food Bank Network members have moved more than $11.5 million of product and have experienced substantial savings in the cost of transportation when utilizing Aidmatrix's Texas Transportation Network," stated Barbara Anderson, State Director for the Texas Food Bank Network.

Hunger Relief Success in Washington
Food Lifeline of Washington recently implemented AgencyExpress™ 3.0 to improve upon their hunger-relief efforts. AgencyExpress™ is a hunger-relief program associated with Feeding America that enables hunger-relief agencies to view and order food from their food banks with an online shopping cart -- in a simple and efficient manner. Nearly 30 food banks and more than 25,000 users moved more than 200 million pounds of food in 2008. AgencyExpress™ 3.0 helps food banks and agencies reduce their administrative costs and allocate their resources in more efficient ways to serve their communities. "We've heard from our member agencies that Upgrading to AgencyExpress™ 3.0 has really made our system more user-friendly and much easier to navigate. We receive the orders from our more than 300 partnering agencies all on a single online system, enabling our employees and volunteers to make better use of their time," stated Tiffani Kaech, Director of Agency Relations at Food Lifeline.
