Relief for Myanmar and China Disaster Victims Continues

We are fundraising on behalf of our partners on the ground in Myanmar and China. Your help is still needed for the near-term and long-term recovery efforts for both the Myanmar Cyclone Relief and the China Earthquake Relief. Our corporate partners such as Sun Microsystems, UPS, and Agility are using our Virtual Aid Drive™ technology to do fundraising with their employees. With this tool, it is quick and easy to set up a web-based workplace giving campaign that lets even remote employees be a part of the program while raising money for the charities of your choice.

UPS Foundation Supports China Disaster Relief Effort

UPS announced its support of the China Disaster Relief Efforts in its May 15th press release by contributing more than US$1 million in cash and in-kind support to the earthquake relief efforts in China through its charitable arm, the UPS Foundation. UPS pledged an additional $500,000 for in-kind support to aid the delivery of relief supplies. UPS is also encouraging its employees to contribute to the cause by donating through Aidmatrix. UPS is a founding sponsor of the Aidmatrix Network®.

White House Compassion-In-Action Roundtable Highlights Critical Role of Nonprofits in Disaster Preparation and Response

The White House Compassion-In-Action Roundtable was held May 19th. Aidmatrix CEO Gov. Scott McCallum spoke immediately preceding Michael Chertoff, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), on the Aidmatrix Network for Disaster Relief. Gov. McCallum's focus was on the new national framework and processes in place to help manage unsolicited in-kind donations during a disaster and how nonprofits can benefit from this technology. The theme for the event was "Partnerships in Emergency Preparedness, Response and Recovery: The Role of Faith-Based and Community Organizations in Building Resilient Communities."

June 1st Starts U.S. Hurricane Season

Hurricane preparations are now in full force for many of our partners at State and Emergency Services organizations. The Gulf Coast is typically exposed to multiple hurricanes in a given season and member States Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Puerto Rico are all trained and active on the Aidmatrix Network. Much of the Eastern seaboard is also signed up for the Aidmatrix Network, including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York City. So if a hurricane threatens to hit, each can immediately use the system to help in the management, processing and warehousing of donations and volunteers. Aidmatrix provides the basic tools free-of-charge to the States as we are another member of the disaster response community in partnership with the States, the public and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOADs).
