DALLAS, TX - May 6, 2008 - The Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc. today announced a website for making donations to assist in the relief efforts for the Myanmar Cyclone disaster. The website can be found on the www.aidmatrix.org home page, or by going directly to www.aidmatrix.org/myanmar.html. Donations made on this site will provide needed supplies, technical support and cash donations to our partners including international and local Myanmar relief agencies.
According to CNN.com, the death toll in Myanmar is estimated at "more than 22,000 people" and "the U.N. estimated up to a million could be homeless." Right now the greatest need is for clean drinking water, food and fuel. It is critical that relief supplies be received within the upcoming days in order to stave off disease and ultimately starvation.
Cash donations will allow the nonprofits to quickly purchase the supplies they need most, either from their partners or from within the region - this helps save time and keeps costs low. Donors can select from the list of agencies working in Myanmar that they wish to support with their donation.
In-kind donations are also welcome and will be offered directly to the nonprofits in the region. The nonprofits will then review and decide if they are able to accept the donation and/or arrange for transport of the donated goods. Donors will be contacted directly by the nonprofits if the offer is accepted.
