Gov. McCallum Speaks at DPPI Consortium in Bulgaria
Gov. Scott McCallum, CEO of Aidmatrix, spoke at the Consortium of Southeastern European Countries (SEE) April 7-8 in Sophia, Bulgaria. Aidmatrix was featured prominently for its disaster recovery work. The conference was attended by more than 20 countries with their delegations. Also in attendance were the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), the Swedish Rescue Service Agency, the Danish Emergency Management Agency, the World Meteorological Association and several other United Nations groups.
Missouri State Emergency Management System (SEMA) Announces Disaster Donation System for Flood Relief
The State of Missouri SEMA is now the fifth state to actively use their portal on the Aidmatrix Network® during a disaster. The recent flooding in the state prompted SEMA to use the portal to register, track, and allocate undesignated and unsolicited donated goods and services to the Missouri Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (MO VOAD). There are currently 17 States and 1 territory signed up for the Aidmatrix Network®, covering nearly 50% of the U.S. population. Salvation Army Western Territory Disaster Services Gets Hands-On Training on the Aidmatrix Network
The Salvation Army Western Territory Disaster Services held their annual roundtable in April in Redmond, Oregon. The event was hosted by Monica Severson, Territorial Emergency Disaster Services Director for the Salvation Army. The Western Territory covers 13 states along with the pacific territories. Greg Smith, of the California Office of Emergency Services, and Aidmatrix's Mike Seifert conducted the training exercises on the Aidmatrix Network®. Much of the time was spent with hands-on work using the Aidmatrix Network features: giving, sharing, viewing and accepting donation offers in the California portal. Lessons learned in the California wildfires were also shared along with how it might apply to the Salvation Army.
FEMA and Aidmatrix Present at the National Hurricane Conference
Susan Jensen, FEMA, and Melis Jones, Aidmatrix, presented at the National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, Florida. Similar to last year, we were positioned at the beginning of the week during the training sessions. Our breakout session was well attended by approximately 50 people. Susan did an excellent overview of the program and Melis presented on the full suite of in-kind, cash, and volunteer management solutions. Overall, feedback was positive and we view it as another step forward to getting the word out about the Aidmatrix Network®.
Aidmatrix's India Office Sponsors Disaster Management Conference
The 2nd International Disaster Management Conference was organized by the National Disaster Management Authority India (NDMA) and by Responsenet -- an Aidmatrix Initiative. Aptly titled "Operationalising Public-Private Partnership for Disaster Management: Towards Resilient & Sustainability Goals," the conference was held on April 16th & 17th at New Delhi. The Conference was supported by a number of international agencies, multi-national organizations and corporate bodies like USAID- IRG, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC&RCS), United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR), Sphere India, Tata Teleservices, International Association for Emergency Managers (IAEM), Swiss Re, GeoHazards International, Services International, Grant Thornton, Micro Insurance Academy, Motorola, Steria (India) Limited, British Standard Issues (BSI), IFFCO-TOKIO, AMS Acoustics, DURAN Audio and DIGITEXX. Further, the Conference saw the participation of representatives of various State Governments and Departments like Fire Services, the Health Directorate, Police, Non-Governmental Organizations, academicians, societal actors and stakeholders from all parts of the world.
