Aidmatrix Honors Top Volunteers for 2007;
Mary Elizabeth McNeely Named "Volunteer of the Year"
Gov. McCallum, CEO and President of Aidmatrix, hosted the 2007 Volunteer Awards program March 4th, 2008. This event was designed to honor the many volunteers who contribute in large and small ways to Aidmatrix' mission each year. More than 60 volunteers were honored as well as four companies: Accenture, Microsoft Thomas Group, Samsoft and Source for Humanity, which combined to total thousands of volunteered hours. Mary Elizabeth McNeely was named the "Volunteer of the Year" for the countless Oracle DBA services she performed for our delivery team during a data center migration project. We are thankful for each of these volunteers and their continued assistance as they helped us to achieve and share our 2007 goals.

Florida Increases Disaster Preparedness
With support from the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the Governor's Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, Volunteer Florida, facilitated a workshop on March 4-5 at the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee to kick off the Florida Donations Portal. The more than 100 participants included representatives from 40 Florida County Emergency Management Agencies and more than 40 statewide and local non-governmental and faith-based organizations, many of them Volunteer & Donations Support Agencies with roles in the Florida Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. Aidmatrix presenter Mike Seifert offered a demonstration of the Aidmatrix Network, with Volunteer Florida staff providing information on the statewide implementation of the program. A meeting of Florida Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (FLVOAD) was held March 5 in conjunction with the Aidmatrix Network workshop. The requisite membership in FLVOAD or a local VOAD/COAD for eligibility to participate in the Florida portal web site on the Aidmatrix Network is anticipated to strengthen VOAD at all levels and promote coordination among Florida relief agencies.
