Installation by Maria Gaspar |
Maria Gaspar is an interdisciplinary artist whose work includes sculpture, installation, performance and writing. Gaspar is interested in location as a catalyst for ideas, where reality and fiction collapse into mythological sites and historical mutabilities. She has presented her work at various museums and galleries, including 'Oblation For A Parade' at The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in 2009, 'National' at Illinois State University, and 'Ground Floor' at the Hyde Park Art Center in 2010.
Her solo show, "All That Also Means To See" investigates spatial transformations, blurred places, and other imaginings. It includes the installation of a durational inflated structure that inhales and exhales every five minutes. This installation will be the first artwork featured in WMG's new multimedia exhibition space.

Chicago Artist Month Open House with
Dance Performance by Perceptual Motion
Created by Lin Shook
Friday, October 14, 6:00-8:00 p.m
As part of "The Project", and in celebration of Chicago Artist Month, Woman Made Gallery will be hosting a special dance performance during the open house. Created by Lin Shook of Perpetual Motion Dance, the performance will feature a structured dance improvisation based on The Luscher Color Test. Its principle is that accurate psychological information can be gained about people through their choices and rejections of colors. A 3-dancer-performance based on Luscher Color Test results will occur every 40 minutes.
