| Four transformative ideas to guide future Land Use decisions
The enormity of vacant and underutilized land that underlies many of Detroit's struggles today can be the most powerful tool to create a more viable, sustainable and healthy environment in the future
After months of research, analysis and dialogue with residents and community leaders; the Long Term Planning team is asking residents and stakeholders to review and provide additional feedback on draft strategies that guide the future vision and direction for Land Use within the city.
Four significant land use transformations that focus on employment districts, connected transit network, traditional & innovative urban neighborhoods, and innovative landscape system serve as the basis for future land use decisions.
The draft strategies in turn seek to guide short term and long term decisions with the use of Framework Zones, apply the Land Use Typologies to structure our future zoning and use the Future Land Use Map to set an integrated vision for the future.
Land Use will be the focus of an Open House hosted at the project's HomeBase, 2929 Russell Street from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28.
