Draft Strategies Our Focus through September 20

Detroit Works Project Long Term Planning is closing in on completing a Strategic Framework Plan to guide decisions about Economic Growth; Neighborhoods; City Systems; Infrastructure and Environment; Land Use Zoning and Urban Design; and Public Land and Facilities. Now through September 20 will be your last opportunity to review Draft Strategies and provide feedback before the Strategic Framework Plan is complete in late October.

 

Beginning next week, Monday, August 6th, you will begin to receive this newsletter weekly. The topic next week will be Draft Strategies for Economic Growth.   Each of the following weeks will focus on Draft Strategies for a different planning element.   We will also provide you with information about events and activities taking place that will allow you to become more familiar with the information and provide your feedback.

 

We look forward to sharing information with in the coming weeks and gathering your input as we work together to improve the quality of life in Detroit.

Detroit Works Project Long Term Planning (DWP LTP) is proud to partners with ARISE Detroit's 6th Annual Neighborhood's Day. Join us at the Long Term Planning HomeBase located at 2929 Eastern Market across from Shed 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an exclusive sneak preview of our Planning Element Open Houses that begin next week.

      

In a workshop-type atmosphere, attendees will be able to see some of the draft strategies-they will be exhibited on the walls-and representatives will be presenting information and accepting your feedback. There will also be information takeaways about the project that you can share with your friends, family, and neighbors. Refreshments and some snacks will be provided.

Open House Begin Tuesday, August 7
Open House

   

Open Houses focusing on Draft Strategies in need of input before the Strategic Framework Plan is completed in late October will be hosted at the Long term Planning Homebase, 2929 Russell Street. Open House take place from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with presentations being made at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the following dates: 

  • Tuesday, August 7: Economic Growth;
  • Tuesday, August 14: Neighborhoods;
  • Tuesday, August 21: City Systems, Infrastructure and Environment;
  • Tuesday, August 28: Land Use, Zoning and Urban Design; and
  • Tuesday, September 4: Public Land and Facilities.

Four Community Conversations about the Draft Strategies will be hosted between September 10 and September 14, 2012. It will be your last opportunity to provide feedback before the Strategic Framework Plan is completed in late October. Each Community Conversation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The dates and locations are below:
