 | Alumnus Spotlight - Kyle Bentley
|
EASTERN 2007 Electronics Engineer ing Technology/Abington High School graduate, Kyle Bentley, works as a contractor for NASA through Orbital Sciences. For the past year, Bentley has worked on NASA's propulsion systems for satellites.
Bentley, who relocated to Maryland for his position at Orbital Sciences, is currently working on two projects for NASA - the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Satellite, and the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Satellite. GPM is set to launch in 2014 from Japan through Jaxa. At that time, Bentley will be in Japan for six months assisting with the fueling system. For MMS, NASA is building four identical spacecraft which are also scheduled to launch in 2014.
"I love airplanes. While I was at EASTERN I was also working on getting my pilot's license. I also loved electronics because of my program at EASTERN," said Bentley. "I decided to pursue a career that mixes aviation and electronics, so I chose the aerospace industry. When it comes to work ethic, problem solving skills, and skills that are universal to life, I credit my success in those areas to EASTERN. I don't think I would have the confidence that I have now without EASTERN. EASTERN provided so many opportunities to succeed."
