BREAKING NEWS:

CSO President/Executive Director
 Jonathan Martin
 to head Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Please read open letter from CSO Board Chair, Emily Smith, which follows:

Dear Charlotte Symphony family,

We are all very sad to hear Jonathan Martin's news that he has accepted a position as President and Executive Director of the Dallas Symphony. We wish him well in his new job and will certainly miss him. Under his leadership many great things have happened at the CSO, creatively ,administratively and philanthropically.

I plan to gather the Executive Committee in the next few days to name an interim President & Executive Director and plans will be underway soon to begin the search process to determine Jonathan's successor.

Although we are all disappointed that Jonathan is leaving, there are many good things on the horizon for CSO in the coming days.

Below is the statement I will give to Steven Brown:

"The entire Charlotte Symphony Orchestra family regrets losing President and Executive Director Jonathan Martin to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, but understands the appeal of the opportunity there. With Jonathan at the helm, the CSO has made great strides forward, creatively, administratively and philanthropically. Along with Music Director Christopher Warren-Green he initiated the popular KnightSounds Series, a more informal concert series and started a highly successful after school teaching program at Winterfield Elementary School.

Work is underway to name an interim President & Executive Director and to initiate a search process for Jonathan's successor."

Best,

Emily Smith

Chairman of the Board of Trustees

Charlotte Symphony Orchestra

All of us at the Symphony Guild of Charlotte wish the very best to Jonathan!  For the past four years, we have greatly benefited from his leadership and vision, his uncanny savoir-faire, and his contagious joie de vivre.  He will be sorely missed.
