Hurrah for Alex!
One of our favorite Youth Orchestra percussionists, Alex Kim, has been selected to attend North Carolina Governor's School this summer. As you may recall, Alex gave a rousing testimonial at our last Overture luncheon and, with Leo Soto (Charlotte Symphony principal timpanist), led the Winterfield Bucket Band at Classical Idol this past March.
Alex, son of Guild members Dina and Allen Kim, has been selected for the instrumental music curriculum. Governor's School is the oldest statewide summer residential program for academically or intellectually gifted high school students in the nation. The five-week program integrates academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses; cuuriculum focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in each discipline.

Sad News - Margaret Chisholm
Former Guild member, Margaret Chisholm passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 24. Her family has planned a memorial service for her, which will take place on Saturday, July 28 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Margaret was a wonderful Guild member, beloved by all who knew her throughout the many, many years in which she volunteered.
