Can You Believe It's Been 25 Years?
We'll definitely be celebrating at the Knight Theater on Apr 12! Come and join the festivities for an evening showcasing the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestras and the Young Artists Competition Grand Prize winner - Victoria Pan, violinist.
The evening consists of four segments - the Youth Orchestra performs under the baton of Ernest Pereira, followed by the concerto performance of our YAC winner with the Charlotte Symphony conducted by Jacomo Rafael Bairos. After intermission, the Junior Youth Orchestra performance will give us a peek into the future. The grand finale of the Youth Orchestra/Charlotte Symphony side-by-side, 160-musician strong, will literally blow you away!
You will not want to miss this amazing, award-winning performance where today's symphony and tomorrow's musicians star together!

Education Concerts
Get ready, because 5,000 4th and 5th graders are headed to Ovens Auditorium on Apr 18! The annual school concerts, named in honor of Guild Member Debbie Phillips, are scheduled for the morning of April 18. We sure could use a few good volunteers to help seat the students. It's easy to do, will take only a few hours of your time, you get to wear a Guild apron, and best of all, you will hear this year's Charlotte Symphony performance of "Audible Imagery: Water as Music."

Fabulous Fun and French Food
The annual Guild Winter Meeting was held on Feb 16 at the lovely Georges Brasserie in Piedmont Row. Sixty-three members enjoyed great camaraderie, fine cuisine and a special presentation on our education projects, complete with our own Judge Donna. Catherine Connor enthralled all present with her presentation about the upcoming (and very exciting) Classical Idol event.

Bye Bye Storage Unit!
Scavenger Hunt a hit! Management and Planning led the effort to clean out and close our storage unit. This will save money for the Guild as we downsize to a smaller unit which will house our permanent records and a few other items. The big clean-out day was Sat Feb 18, and members came for the items they wanted/couldn't live without. Remaining items were donated to Wing Haven, Habitat ReStore and Goodwill.

Members also helped open and organize stored plastic tubs, and Guild files were taken to our office. Management and Planning is in the process of organizaing our permanent files according to the retention schedule posted on our website.
Progress continues to be made EVERY day! |
