It's 2012, and The Guild is a whirlwind of activity! My previous letters outlined my vision and passion for our mission, and presented the new initiatives and events planned by your leadership team for the coming season.
This issue of Noteables NOW! is full of updates on how our membership has embraced that mission and risen to the challenge of changing times to begin to craft a new Symphony Guild ...

Annual Holiday Party Delights!
The Guild's perennially fabulous
 | | (l. to r.) Guild members Ginger Bowman, Joanne Belford and Ann Guild | holiday party was held December 4
at the lovely home of Catherine and Wilton Connor. Nearly 100 Guild members, spouses and guests attended.
Their home as a visual potpourri of exquisite holiday decorations filling every room. The mood was festive, food delicious and wine plentiful. Melodic background music was provided by Ethan Usian, pianist. We would like to thankd those members who assisted with the party planning, as well as those who helped with meeting and greeting that evening.
Our members look forward to this party every year, and we extend our sincere thanks to our hosts, Catherine and Wilton, for graciously sharing their home with us.

Festival of Trees Ends on High Note...
During the Guild Holiday Party on December 4,
our eight Holiday trees graced the home of Catherine and Wilton Conner. Following the final performance of the Charlotte Symphony's Magic of Christmas, the trees were moved to the Connor's home for the closing bids.
Party attendees were able to bid on the trees and online bids were accepted until 7 pm that evening. The winners of the trees were announced shortly after the bidding ended. The best news:
net proceeds of $4400.
Many thanks to the donors, designers, volunteers, winners and partners who helped make the fundraiser a success!

Harpists Guest Star at MPZ
Bette Roth, principal Charlotte Symphony harpist emeriti, brought ten of her student harpists (aged 4 to 11) to Imaginon for a special program of holiday music on Dec 21. It was an awesome sight to see these ten young children seated side by side playing music on their beautiful harps.
There was a surprise for the children in the audience! After the harpists played, the children were invived to come and play the harps. By the end of the program, many many children had played the harp for the very first time. This fantastic program makes a positive impact on young children, and we hope they will be inspired to pursue music lessons in the future.
Thank you, Bette, for sharing your young, talented students with the Musical Petting Zoo!
