The Symphony Guild of Charlotte

December 23, 2011

Dear Guild Members,

Classical Idol, the 2012 Spring Guild Benefit, is kicking off, and we want you to be part of it! Attend the first committee and interest meeting:

January 4, 2012

4:00 pm

Home of Catherine Connor

1133 Queens Road

More about the Benefit: The Symphony Guild of Charlotte is producing Classical Idol for the benefit of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestras. Classical Idol will tell of the transformational effect of music in our lives through performances, video, and testimonials.  It will be held on Saturday March 24, 2012 in the Knight Theater.

The show will feature classical and non-classical performances by CSO musicians, Youth Orchestra members, the Oratorio Singers and the Winterfield School, potentially ranging from jazz and gospel to Broadway and blues. Small ensembles and solo performances will highlight the diverse and complex nature of the Charlotte Symphony and its impact on the community.

Music Director Christopher Warren-Green will choose ensembles that are fun, interesting and engaging to the audience by showcasing the CSO as a resource in our community.

Guild and Symphony projects, such as the Musical Petting Zoo, will be featured in the lobby prior to the show, and Text Voting for Favorite Act will engage the audience. A brief Live Auction will include only musical items, such as 'Chamber Music in Your Home,' tickets and lodging at the Spoleto music festival, and flights and tickets to a London performance of CWG conducting the London Chamber Orchestra.

It is already fun and energizing. Thank you in advance for all for your interest and enthusiasm for this project. We can't wait to see how far we go!  Please come to our committee kickoff on January 4th.
