Lisa Phillips,
President 2011-12
Dear Guild Members and Friends,

There was great energy at the Fall Membership Meeting as we focused on the coming year! For those who could not make it, our stellar team of Guild leaders outlined some exciting new initiatives  ... click here to continue!

We stood up for our Charlotte Symphony at Festival in the Park ...

We braved the deluge for love of music!

On September 25th, our Guild hosted a tent at the annual Festival in the Park in Freedom Park. The CSYO was scheduled to play a concert beginning at 2 p.m.; then the skies literally opened up with a torrential downpour!

Pictured here are mom and daughter Guild The Parnellsmembers Cookie and Laura-Nelle Parnell.  Cookie, Past President 2008-9, is currently chairing the Guild's holiday fundraiser, Festival of Trees (watch for more information in the next few weeks).  Laura-Nelle, who joined our Guild at last year's Overture luncheon, has taken on the challenge of being our social media (Facebook, Twitter et al) chair.

There's a New Baby in the Musical Petting Zoo Family!

Our new mini-MPZ can be there in a flash!
We can now take the music to the streets without a small army of volunteers ... with two violins, one trumpet, two recorders and a veritable pile of percussion, the mini-zoo can be handled by two volunteers and organized with a phone call.

Interested in volunteering for the Zoos? We are launching a great new resource for volunteering - article follows!!

You don't have to be a Genius to Volunteer ...

Test drive our new online resource ...
Check out this new website!  Under the tutelage of Guild member Jackie Slaugenhaupt, volunteering for Guild events and programs will be a snap ... the maiden voyage of the site occurred for Festival in the Park volunteer recruitment.  It was so simple to select a shift, see who else had volunteered, determine when a shift was full, send reminder notices, and much, much more.  Many thanks to Jackie for her e-leadership!

Click here to visit SignUpGenius - and while you're there, we'd love for you to volunteer for the Musical Petting Zoo.  You're just one click away from pure delight!!

Dinner and Discussion!

The Fall Guild 101 took place on Sep 22 at the home of Lisa Phillips.  Ten New Members, accompanied by their Mentors, were invited to join the Guild's five area Vice Presidents for a presentation of their respective areas. Mentors provided a delicious buffet dinner, and conversation was lively, to say the least.

This format was designed to help the new members feel welcome in becoming involved in an area of their choosing.  New Members were also encouraged to attend the Fall Meeting on Oct 11 at Kathy Prokay's home.

The Winter Guild 101 will be held on Dec 8 at the home of Sharon Lacy.
