2505 Fannin is more than a building at the corner of McGowen and San Jacinto. It's the mailing address for thousands of SEARCH clients past and present. Each week, SEARCH receives around 3,000 pieces of mail for our clients. Organizing this quantity of mail requires the handiwork of a professional. Organizing this quantity of mail, especially documents like Social Security or Disability benefits, a Texas driver's license or even a holiday letter from a family member is a critical service to our clients. Kind Mike, My Life on the Street Michael O'Connor, former SEARCH client, recently released "Kind Mike, My Life on the Street" Here's an excerpt from Mike's book. "Just then, in pulled Stewart and Julie in the white SEARCH van. Bringing me instantly back to the present time."Sorry we are a little late today," Stewart yelled as he and Julie jumped out of their van. Stewart proudly announces,"We have a surprise for you today, we have hot barbeque roast beef sandwiches, chips and Snapple for lunch! We also brought you each a blanket, you know it won't be long now and you will be needing it." We thanked them and they left."
$1.00 from each "Kind Mike" book purchased at retail from Amazon.com will go to SEARCH Homeless Services. Purchase book here. |
