The 2010 National Antenatal Sentinel HIV and Syphilis Prevalence Survey in South Africa

Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, South Africa's Minister of Health, released the 2010 National Antenatal Sentinel HIV and Syphilis Prevalence Survey in South Africa on the 29th of November 2011. Although the 2010 survey shows an almost one percent (0,8%) increase in HIV prevalence (to 30,2%) among antenatal women it was considered to be statistically insignificant and could be translated as a stabilisation.

South Africa's new National Strategic Plan on HIV, STIs and TB 2012-2016

The NSP is the strategic guide for the national response to HIV, STIs and TB for the next five years. The plan addresses the drivers of the HIV and TB epidemics and builds on the achievements of the previous NSPs to achieve its goals. Interventions that have worked well will be scaled up and the quality of service delivery will be improved, while at the same time proven new interventions will be implemented.
