1st International HIV Social Science and Humanities Conference |
The International Association of HIV Social Scientists is hosting a new conference that is aimed at discussing and supporting contributions of the social sciences and humanities to HIV research and action. Redpeg is pleased to announce that our abstract submission, titled 'HIV and AIDS at Work: Using the sociology of workplaces to increase action and lessen risk', has been accepted as a poster presentation at the conference, which takes place in Durban from 11 - 13 July 2011.

Key conference themes include 'Treatment as Prevention' and 'HIV, responsibility and risk governance', among several other compellling topics. The International HIV Social Sciences and Humanities Conference follows another Durban-based international meeting, the 5th annual SA AIDS Conference, which takes place from 7 - 10 June 2011.

New media and technologies pave the way for the future of HIV prevention |
Stellenbosch/Geneva, 2 May 2011-The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and Stellenbosch University have brought together technology leaders, AIDS activists, social media experts and young people to discuss how social media and mobile technologies can be leveraged for HIV prevention.

CHIETA-funded Strategic HIV/AIDS Workplace Programme |
CHIETA member companies based in Cape Town are invited to apply to take part in a CHIETA-funded Strategic HIV/AIDS Workplace Programme, which is aligned to the CHIETA and South African National Strategic Plan to mitigate the impact of HIV in workplaces. The support programme is offered free of charge and consists of key interventions (capacity building and research support) aimed at enhancing each participating company's ability to strategically manage HIV/AIDS in the workplace.
Please note that the programme commences from mid-June, and applications close 17 May 2011.
