Design Awards Call For Entries by David Thompson |
Summer is coming and so is the time to photograph your best work for entry into the APSP Midwest Chapter Design Awards.
The Chapter Design Awards have been revitalized to make the judging process more objective and give the awards more credibility. To help in judging the workmanship of the pool we now require an equipment pad installation photo with every entry.
All chapter design award winners are eligible to be placed on the Midwest Chapter Web-site to help promote your success!
Another new wrinkle this year is that any projects that win a Gold Award at the Chapter Level will automatically be entered into the Region 6 Design Awards Competition to see how it stacks up against entries from all over the region.
The deadline for entry into the Midwest Chapter Design Awards will be October 7th, 2011 and entry information will be available by early summer.

Spring Training 2011 Success by Jason Miller | |
On March 7, 2011 the Midwest Chapter
APSP produced a full day jam packed with valuable training and information.
The first event was an all day Business Training seminar by Guy Gruenberg of Grow Consulting, Inc. Training was attended by a diverse group including 11 member companies involved in construction, service, retail and distribution.
Business training was followed by an abbreviated Midwest Chapter APSP Board of Directors meeting where attending members were brought up to speed on past, present and future board activities.
Dinner was served! An abundance of delicious food was enjoyed by chapter members as Pat McNamara, appearing on behalf of Interfab, conducted a presentation addressing the new ADA Requirements for public pools.
Once the presentation was complete, a handful of members participated in a candid round table discussion regarding the impact of Internet sales as it relates to our industry.
This event was made possible by the support provided from our sponsors. Special thanks to Hayward Pool Products, Natural Chemistry, Pentair Pool Products, Superior Pool Products of Waukesha, Interfab and King Technologies for their generous donations.
Watch for more information as we continue to develop Spring Training 2012! |

Planning has begun for the 2011 Midwest Chapter Christmas Party & Annual Meeting! It is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Friday, December 2, 2011 to be held at the Parkway Chateau (the Brat Stop) in Kenosha, WI.
In addition to it being our annual meeting where board members are officially elected, it is also our Christmas Party! This year a gourmet dinner will be served in the Bristol Room followed by entertainment that has yet to be determined. Please reserve the date and watch for more information as it develops. Also, please consider bringing your entire staff for a fun night of food, drinks and entertainment! |

Chapter By-Laws Revision by Jason Miller | The Midwest Chapter APSP board of directors has completed a thorough review of the chapter by-laws and a draft of the amended by-laws reflecting the recommended changes has been prepared. At the next meeting, scheduled for April 4, 2011 the board will decide if the draft accurately reflects the desired changes. If so, a copy of the proposed by-laws will be made available to the membership for comment and a final vote to officially adopt the new by-laws will be taken at the following meeting. Over the years the by-laws have had several amendments. Some amendments were in conflict with other parts of the by-laws. In addition, the by-laws were somewhat dated with respect to modern modes of communications such as the Internet and e-mail. While reviewing the by-laws, it was the board of director's goal to eliminate any conflicts within the by-laws while simplifying and modernizing the requirements within the by-laws. Please watch for more information as this process continues. |

May Is National Water Safety Month
by Jason Miller |

National Water Safety Month is a joint effort of the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals, World Waterpark Association, American Red Cross and the National Recreation and Park Association.
It is an excellent opportunity to build your brand and strengthen your ties to your community and your customers. Consider doing something special to get involved, even if it something simple like promoting safety related merchandise in your store. For more ideas and information you should visit www.nationalwatersafetymonth.com. |

Design Awards Call For Entries!
Summer is coming and so is the time to photograph your best work for entry into the APSP Midwest Chapter Design Awards. |
| Our Sponsors | |
The following sponsors have generously supported the Midwest Chapter APSP making events such as the golf outing, design awards, Christmas Party and training seminars possible.
Local chapters presently receive no proceeds from annual APSP dues which make funding such events a challenge.
So far in 2011, these sponsors have chipped in to support OUR LOCAL CHAPTER.
The next time you see one of their reps, please take a few seconds and thank them for their support. Let them know that you noticed their support and it is appreciated.
