No Child Left Inside® Summer Festival this Saturday!   

  

Come join us this Saturday, August 11, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at Fort Trumbull State Park in New London as we celebrate with our summer festival.

Activities to include fishing (equipment and bait will be provided), crabbing, lobster pot maze, fish and bait game, fish catching tactics, marine fish ID and much more!

Dinosaur State Park Day - August 18 

Celebrate the discovery of 2,000 early Jurassic Dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill.  Join us for a full day of fun.  The special event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature live animal shows, entertainment including music and clowns, games with prizes, continuous education programs, face painting, costumed characters and a craft tent.  All outside activities are free, except for the mining which has a materials fee.  Admission to the museum is only $6 for adults and $2 for ages 6-12, children 5 and under are free.

 

The Connecticut Dinosaur Trail  

Amazing adventures await at Connecticut's Dinosaur-themed attractions!  Our state is home to some of the coolest dinosaur attractions anywhere.  The Connecticut Dinosaur Trail brings them all together so you can plan your own dino-sized days of fun and not miss a single saurus!  This program is sponsored by Connecticut Tourism.

Event: Insect Discovery Walk

Location: Kellogg Environmental Center, Derby 

Brief Description: Insects are all around us and are some of the most diverse animals on earth.  Join us for a staff led hike to discover many types of creatures and their adaptations to habitats.  We will explore the role they play in Connecticut's ecosystems.  Open to ages 5 and up.  For more information please contact Donna Kingston at (203) 734-2513 or donna.kingston@ct.gov 

 

Event: Flat Stanley's CT Outdoor Adventure       

Date: Saturday, August 25, 2012 

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Wilcox Woods, Middletown 

Brief Description: Help find Flat Stanley!  Join us for a fun adventure as we embark on a scavenger hunt in search for clues to locate the hidden CT Flat Stanley letterbox.  Find Flat Stanley as we hike the NET and have your picture taken with him to be entered into a random drawing for a Connecticut Walk Book.  Bring your own letterbox stamp and journal if you have one.  Rain postpones event until August 26 at 10:00 am.  For more information please contact CFPA at (860) 346-TREE or info@ctwoodlands.org

: National Vulture Awareness Day 

Date: Saturday, September 1, 2012

Time: 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Kellogg Environmental Center, Derby
 

Brief Description: Focus on the often overlooked vulture and other birds of prey on a special walk and talk.  Intended as a beginners introduction to identifying birds that soar we will look into the greatness of the vulture and how it is unique among other birds of prey.  Bring field guides and binoculars if you have them, there will be some on site to borrow. Connecticut offers some of the best saltwater fishing that few places can rival. With over 100 species of fish found in Long Island Sound, anglers can enjoy some of the very best striped bass, bluefish, summer flounder, scup, hickory shad, black sea bass and tautog fishing along the entire coast. The State of Connecticut offers anglers many fishing opportunities with excellent boat launches along the coast and great shore fishing locations at coastal state  and city parks, and convenient party and charter boat fishing.
