How To Stay "In the GAME" Over Summer Vacation
Athletes are always looking for a way to gain a competitive edge or maintain their level of performance in the off season. At HARTZ P hysical Therapy, our ONE Sports Performance program helps high school and collegiate athletes do just that. By focusing on increasing flexibility, strength, speed and agility, and conditioning to improve endurance, we help our athletes achieve their personal goals. Participants can take what they have learned and apply it to their respective sports in the fall.
Take time to focus on areas that sometimes get overlooked when competing in season. Stretching hamstrings, quadriceps/hip flexors, and calf muscles -- as well as strengthening core or abdominal muscles -- can significantly improve an athlete's performance in sport.
Add a cross training program to your summer workout plan.
Consider mixing up speed and conditioning workouts with sports or activities you may not have a chance to participate in during the sports season. Swimming, hiking, and biking are only a few of the great ways to cross train over the summer.
Grab a friend, make it fun, and challenge yourself by focusing on the areas mentioned above. The fall sports season is right around the corner, so get out there and train!
