Greetings!

We have been invaded.  Invaded by interns!  This month, I am very excited to introduce to you our three summer interns.

Our internship program is one of the ways that we equip young leaders with the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful in future biology, conservation or nonprofit careers.

I hope you will read about our interns below and consider supporting our internship program.  Your support will fund projects that the interns are working on, including small mammal research and prairie restoration.

Aaron marks

Hello all, my name is Aaron Marks and I am from Stillwater Minnesota. I went to Northwestern College for Biology and Biblical Studies- Theology. I graduated two years ago in May of 2010. I have been doing Marketing and sales for the last two years and woke up one day and realized that I was doing was exactly what I didn't want to do with my life. I love the outdoors and want to really utilize the tools and skill sets that I have learned through my college and Au Sable. I want to network and really get a chance to meet someone who might be able to help me achieve my career goals. It has been a privilege and an honor to intern here for the summer. Just chasing the dream from Minnesota to Arizona and up the pacific coast - hopefully, this internship will help me catch up to it.

If you would like to contact Aaron about future career opportunities, you can email him at [email protected]

Rachel Nypaver
From: Oak Harbor, Washington
Attending: Humboldt State University, Arcata, CA
Studying: Wildlife Biology

Rachel NypaverI'm currently a junior at Humboldt State University majoring in Wildlife with emphasis in Vertebrate Ecology and Conservation Biology. My ultimate dreams are to work with and save wild tigers and to travel to Africa to study its amazing fauna. I would love to join the Peace Corps after my degree so that I may travel the world and use my passion for animals to help protect and restore wild places and create a promising future for all that inhabit them. I am COMPLETELY available for internships and hire next summer ;)

If you would like to contact Rachel about future internship or career opportunities, please email her at [email protected]

Emily Robinson
From: Everett, Washington
Graduate of:  Northwest University (Kirkland, Wa)
Studied: Environmental Science with a minor in Biology

Recently graduated, I am enjoying the opportunity to be a part of PRI's mission to restore Whidbey Island's native prairies and to further the associated research. I currently reside in Everett, WA, with my awesome husband Sean. After PRI, I plan to continue pursuing my passion for conservation and restoration, focusing on my interest in ecology, wetlands, and botany, through other work experiences and later in graduate school.
