I am very proud of all the athletes in running club, we just participated in our first event of the season "Creaky Bones". Our athletes ran in three different races, 800 meter dashes, 1 mile run, and a 5k. Everyone did an exceptional job and represented our school with honor. Our next race is  the Toy & Pie  run on Thanksgiving morning @ twin lakes, hope to see you there!!

Friday, November 18, 2011 - Tim Seldin - 9:15-10:30am Montessori the 21st Century Approach

Girl with GlobeMaria Montessori's research and program have withstood the time of time, and we predict that within the next two decades the world of education will fully discover its debt to her. Montessori was no will-of-the-wisp. She was an imaginative and rigorous student of child development who produced a vast number of original ideas and had both the enterprise and pragmatic courage to put them to work. Her gift to education is a much deeper appreciation and understanding of the child and the human potential. Tim will explore how Montessori prepared children for the world in which they will live.  Click Here To Register

International Children's Day

International Day
Monday, October 31 is International Children's Day at NewGate. All students are invited to wear the native costume of their heritage or of a culture that they know about or to dress up as a famous person who has made a positive difference in the world.

The festivities will start at the flag pole with NewGate Voices leading us in singing the "Star Spangled Banner."

From there students will participate in a variety of international activities located around the campus.

At noon our Scottish bagpiper, Gary Reinstrom will lead the International Parade of Costumes around the campus.

Students will bring a food from their heritage to share with their class at lunchtime (a small amount to serve 6 is plenty). Ask your child's teacher for more details.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Many families in the Sarasota/Manatee area and around our country are struggling to stay afloat in these hard economic times. It may difficult if not impossible for those families to put food on their tables everyday much less at this traditional time of feasting.

Our students would like to help make this Thanksgiving possible for families in need. The charity of the month for November is All Faiths Food Bank. The Lower Elementary Class in the Cassatt Room would like to collect, from all who wish to participate, non-perishable food items during the week of November 14. Please drop items off at the Cassatt Room entrance.

Thanks!

Family Directory Online
Parent Directory
The first edition of the Family Directory has been posted online at the school's website. It is in the password protected area. You should have received a separate email reconfirming your user names and passwords.

When you log in to the password protected Parent area of the school website, and click on the Family Directory, you will find links to 3 different sizes: one for your computer, an IPAD, or a smart phone. Each can be downloaded as a PDF.

The school's enrollment is continuing to grow. We currently have 99 students, and more are in the admission process. We expect that the Directory will be updated several times over the year as new families join the school.
