Give A Little Bit

At a time where we are all working so hard to get something (or somewhere), it is easy to forget one of the most commonly known, but often ignored, laws of the universe; The Law of Cause and Effect, also referred to more recently as the law of attraction. This Law simply decrees that whatever you send into the Universe comes back.

Whereas the Law is not new by ant means, it has come to be known under many different names; Prayer, Karma, whatever goes around comes around etc, etc...Dating back to the 11th century, Saint Francis Assisi, founder of theFranciscan Order in around 1210, wrote one of his lasting quotes "for it is in giving that we receive".

If you want your results to improve, in other words, to get or receive more, start by giving. I have a good friend who spent this past weekend on a home project for the benefit of a wounded soldier who lost an arm and leg serving our country. This was his way of giving.  I am grateful for both these men. Another good friend began studying yoga several years ago and found it to be life transforming. Her gift to other is to share what she has learned by conducting a free yoga class weekly to many friends and acquaintances. It's all about giving for her, and as a result, she has found a fulfillment most people yearn for.

Now you may say, "What do I have to give", "I'm too busy" or "I have nothing to offer that anyone would care about". Not true. We all have unique and special talents or gifts we can share. They may not seem very special to you, but how about being a good listener to someone who needs to talk, or giving someone some encouragement when their down, a hug or a smile. Let someone know you're there for them if they need you. Send someone a note of appreciation or offer a complement. If you have a little more time, volunteer, join a local civic group like Rotary, go visit someone lonely.

If you really want to make this you're best week, commit to focusing more on giving then receiving, the universe will take care of everything else.

Here's a link to one of my favorite songs Give a Little Bit by Supertramp.  You can't help but getting pumped up and inspired when listening to it. So, before you start your hectic week, find a quite spot and listen. Let this become part of your new attitude and behavior...

Spring Cleaning for Your Computer

Article By  Melissa Kinna, Director of Creative Marketing & Technology of Turning Point Real Estate

Spring is here, and many of us enjoy taking this time to clean up and sort out.  Whether it is because the air of the season puts a little spring in our step or that we are just use to the yearly routine; either way, many of us are in clean-up mode.  So, there is no better time than now to clean-up our computers.  We use our computers on a daily basis, yet we tend to forget that they need a little tune up as well.  Here are two easy cleanup tasks you can run on your computer to help improve its performance.

Free Up Disk Space with the Disk Cleanup Tool

The Disk Cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disk to improve the performance of your computer. The tool identifies files that you can safely delete, and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

Use Disk Cleanup to:

  • Remove temporary Internet files.
  • Remove Windows temporary files such as error reports.
  • Remove optional Windows components that you do not use.
  • Remove installed programs that you no longer use.
  • Remove unused restore points and shadow copies from System Restore.

How to Run a Disk Cleanup, Click the Following:

  1. Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup
  2. When Disk Cleanup has calculated how much space you can free, scroll through the content of the Files to delete list and un-check the items you to not want to delete and then click OK.

After a few minutes, the process completes and the Disk Cleanup dialog box closes, leaving your computer cleaner and performing better.

Speed up Access to Data with the Disk Defragmenter

Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk when the file is opened to piece it back together. The response time can be significantly longer.

In addition to running Disk Defragmenter at regular intervals, monthly is best, but there are other times you should run it too, such as when:

  • You add a large number of files.
  • Your free disk space totals 15 percent or less.
  • You install new programs or a new version of Windows.

How to Run the Disk Defragmenter, Click the Following:

  1. Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter (Click Analyze disk to start the Disk Defragmenter)
  2. In the Disk Defragmenter dialog box, click the drives that you want to defragment, and then click the Analyze button. After the disk is analyzed, a dialog box appears, letting you know whether you should defragment the analyzed drives.
  3. To defragment the selected drive or drives, click the Defragment Disk button. After the defragmentation is complete, Disk Defragmenter displays the results.
