Who hasn't heard these words? Anyone that's ever watched a movie or TV is familiar with the phrase, or the command, responsible for the making of a movie or TV show.
Have you ever stopped to think about the necessary combination of all THREE of these in order to actually end up with a film? There is a good analogy between the making of a film and your life. Life is not a snapshot in time, not defined by a single moment or event, but rather all the series of events from beginning to end.
I was listening to a tape the other day about ACTION and thought about this phrase. Action is one of the most vital ingredients to achievement, success and fulfilling your purpose. Can you imagine if instead the phrase was "Lights...Camera...I want everyone to go home and make more plans about what you'd like to do. We'll get around to filming eventually."
I have a quote on the wall over my desk that reads "Life is too short to waste...Dreams are fulfilled only through action, not through endless planning to take action."
As humans, it is an inherent part of our nature to constantly seek fuller expression and expansion; in other words growth. This is why the feeling of being productive brings such satisfaction. Recognize it or not, our universe and all nature, is energy that is never at rest. We are either creating or disintegrating.
So, back to the analogy of your life and the making of a film;
"Lights!" -- These illuminate your world, giving you clear purpose, vision and goals.
"Camera!" -- The camera brings into focus your plan, recording your progress along your journey to the fulfillment of your purpose, vision and goals.
"ACTION!!" -- This is where the rubber hits the road. Put one foot in front of the other and start heading in the direction of your goals! The first step is the hardest one, but once you get yourself in motion, each new step becomes easier and easier.
Make it your best week ever, Joe
A word of Gratitude... Thanks to my friend Steve Cranford for writing his series of articles. I enjoyed the break, but not nearly as much as I did your articles. Thank you friend...
